I've been looking at upgrading the standard white glock dot, with a front green fiber optic tube sight. This doesn't need to be tritium or anything night sights. I find green pops out more.

This would be for a Glock 45 gen 5 pistol I use in competitions.

I've seen Dawnson Precision, HiViz, Williams FireSights, and Truglo. Any others?

A buddy of mine did it to his Glock 17 with a HiViz which was pretty decent and cheap. But I hear Dawson precision or some others can be sharper and brighter due to fiber quality.

Any thoughts here? Basically replace front sight only, and continue to use glock rear with it. I've been looking at the Dawson .115 width and .160 height. it's a little narrower than factory, but figure maybe some better accuracy that way.

Dawson Precision. All day, every day.
Wa going to just use the initials, but decided I didn't want to end up in that "other" thread…..🤣
We purposely named our kid's first and middle name so he wouldn't have those initials. :s0140:

So I've decided to go Dawson Precision.

I'm torn with with the front sight width .115" or .125". The factory glock rear, according to Glock is .142" width notch (using my caliper, I got .165). I would think if .165" rear notch is accurate, then .115" wide front sight might be a bit too narrow.

I know it's minor, but it's the only decision I'm stuck on before buying. I have everything else (height, etc).

Try reaching out to Dawson. I'm sure they'd know the exact width of the factory rear. They should also be able to tell you what the most common sight width combo is as it relates to sales (the most popular with customers).

I bought the front post only, and it did not work out. They also only do Not do one free replacement unless it's a full set front and rear, so I ended up with the hi-vis front post my buddy did, not ideal but it's closer without having to do the rear sights.

If you do the Dawson precision, make sure you get a set.

These are the right size using the stock rear sights? Is the fiber post the similar size to the stock white dot too?

My biggest issue was same size front post and dot. The hiviz was close, is the ameriglo same size or small like Dawson?
Is there a reason you want to keep the factory plastic rear sight? Why not just buy a complete set?

Lazy, not wanting to drift the rear or get the tool. Also like where the dot currently sits. Easy to center. I'm very used to stock Glock sights. I wouldn't change it out, if the fiber didn't pop so well

If you get a set of Dawson's the rear sight slides right in (at least mine did on my 35) and is held in place by set screws. Just punch out the factory plastic and the rest is easy peasy. I've got green FO's on the rear and red on the front. Works fantastic.
