It elevates, IMO, the concept of probable cause for search to hearsay of ANYONE instead of a sworn officer. Now Im not saying there are not abuses by authorities but this elevates it to anyone who has a gripe with you. Thats a bit scary IMO!!!
It's more than a bit scary, it is guaranteed to be abused. Same as these women who make false reports about rape - it's weaponizing the state against the individual for personal reasons.

Hence the reason it's a good idea to have a few firearms that are off the books.

Edit - "legally" of course. Haha. I won't get rid of the guns I bought privately before the FFL for private party transfers was introduced.

So ,
We create a better existence for all by making $hitty treatment by the legal system equal opportunity?

How bout we trash a bunch of laws that don't work first, then go from there. Continously passing new laws is only good for the lawyers who run this "version " of our country. We have more than enough laws on the books, unless you are in the business of making money from legal action.
For me it's more of just being a little burned out and jaded over a broad swath of people (as in: Not just on here) having selective outrage over how something will effect them but either ignoring or actively dismissing how the same issue effect's others. Sometimes referred to as Not In My Back Yard NIMBY, like the Al Gore crowd demanding we invest in renewable energy but then getting all upset that they might have to see windmills off the shore in Kennebunkport. Or locally when all the Limousine Liberals fought so hard for infill zoning changes and then freaked out and demanded carve outs for THEIR neighborhoods because the new zoning would "change the fabric of their community"

I get the concern being voiced around Red Flag laws, but the feared outcome of those laws is a reality right now and (for the most part) I haven't really seen anyone voice concern, more often than not it's "They should have just compiled and none of this would have happened"

Probably wise to store your firearms in more than one location and keep at least one of those locations to yourself

I'm not worried about someone coming and taking my guns. Once people start knocking on doors I have a feeling blood will fill the streets. These people are stupid politicians. They use fear tactics to push the law abiding citizen to comply in fear of "potential" consequences if they decide to maintain their rights. Quit living in fear and stand your ground.

You never know when you might have a run in with someone who will turn you in for red flag confiscation. As the list of qualifying people allowed to do so grows, so does the risk. I would not want to make it easy for the LEO that has to pick them up.

Again. I don't fear the government and they don't dictate how I live my life.

You still pay your property taxes though right? Because if you didn't the government would take your house, and if you refused their action they'd arrest you, if you refused their arrest they'd shoot you.

Fear isn't required to understand the reality of the danger of this situation.

Yes I pay property taxes. But I have a hard line drawn on certain subjects that I am willing to be shot over.

I do my best to follow the law. I have done so my entire life.

Giving the government the ability to strip constitutionally protected rights from individuals that haven't been convicted of anything. What could go wrong?

It amazes me that anyone is ok with it.

Don't let them be lazy. Make prosecutors and judges do their jobs and get convictions and lock up dangerous people.

The law abiding citizen is the dangerous person in their eyes. The red flag laws will/would destroy the veteran community as well. The exact people who volunteered with blood to guarantee the rights they are stripping away.

Huh? How do you figure that?
PTSD/suicide/anger/depression etc. once labeled it won't go away. When you touch war it touches you back. Veterans won't ask for help cause they know their rights will be stripped. Therefore the mental health and isolation of our warriors will continue to deteriorate in fear of loosing their rights and being labeled something they are not. And if anyone can burn you while you're struggling then that's a recipe for abuse. Who do you think the government wants to take firearms away from. Probably the ones who will stand up against the government.

There are cases where it makes sense, I will give them that.

But whats to say in the future that extremist views or domestic terrorism won't be on the list. With extremist views meaning anything the left left considers misinformation (which is basically everything conservative) or domestic terrorism meaning you attended a Trump rally.

And whats to stop my pissed off girlfriend from falsely reporting me? Then fighting an uphill battle to get my guns back.

In a fair and responsible world, Red Flag laws would make sense. But in today's world, I think it is just a step towards the ultimate goal.
