It's a paratrooper knife,can open one handed, for cutting out of a parachute.Spike is for untieing knots.

That's pretty cool. One of the old Arny/Navy surplus stores in San Jose, the owner was a WWII German collector. He had something I'd never seen before too. He had a bomber crew flight suit that was also a down sleeping bag. The feet area was one piece but from the waist up it was a down hooded flight jacket and the mits (not gloves) snapped to the cuffs. The ID tag said it was for winter Scandinavian flights. PAX
