They do help with directing the blast forward, but they add a lot of weight. Great for a range toy, but not so much for a gun your going to move around with.

There are much lighter ones that work just as well. Been a while since I bought one but check out Brownells, Optics Planet and maybe Midway USA. I'm sure you'll find one that looks good to you and has good reviews.

And if you really want a big bulky linear comp I have an off-brand one laying around somewhere. I'll sell it to you really cheap if I can find it.
