Fiocchi makes a "Small Rifle Magnum" primer for semi and auto rifle NATO spec, which is different from the "Small Rifle" primer that they say applies to bolt action rifles. I have never seen the magnum primer for sale and don't know any more about it, but presumably there is some difference.Looking ahead to reloading some more .223/5.56 ammo. Have you guys used the Fiocchi small rifle primers? Are they OK and do you think I can use them with H 335 instead of the CCI 450 Magnum SRP?
Thanks for the feedback!
Not sure why you wouldn't have to remove a crimped primer pocket with these. That certainly would be a huge bonus. My further observation on Fiocchi primers. I primed about 600 .223/5.56 mixed cases and found with the Fiocchi primers I did not need to remove the factory primer crimp. As a rule I remove the crimp on the primer pocket as part of the process. Fiocchi's didn't measure any smaller but did fit easer into the .223/5.56 primer pocket. I was pleasantly surprised.
