I have absolutely no idea how many rounds I have put through my rem 700 .223 w/ a 40gr v-max, but I'm sure the number is obscene. Tried a .17rem for a couple years as well. Disappointed in that caliber as it didn't perform as well on p-dogs as the .223 but it did completely destroy a bobcat. A 243 w/ a 58gr varminator is super for a coyote on a dead run as well as the .257wby. I'm pretty sure when you hit a fox w/ the 257wby at close to 4k fps the "vacuum effect" by the bullet passing through sucks all the guts out of it BEFORE the rest of the critter turns inside out.

Only rimfire I own is ,17WSM. I need .22LR, that .17 is a bit much for grouse. I got a .458 SOCOM for the other varmints we have out here. You know, the Yogis, Poohs, and Fozzies.

6 creedmoor. Good for deer to sage rats, coyotes and wolves. Flat shooting, hard hitting 87 grain Hornady. Low recoil and suppressed, its remarkably light recoil and quiet.

Christ, you guys make a simple job into something..else. Define Varmint...Squirrel, Opossum, Raccoon, Skunk, Rat?

Ruger 10/22.

Jeez

A bonded 9mm 115gr JHP loaded such that a third loading would not be possible due to the primer pocket no longer being able to securely hold a primer.

My favorites are 22LR, 17HMR, 17 Mach II, 22 Hornet, and 223. I have also used 220 Swift, 222, 22-250, and 243.
By far I have shot way more 22LR than any others! DR

I used my 22-250 for everything! Elk, deer, bears, cougers, coyotes and smaller critters. Remington 700 vssf shooting a 45gr hp, I put it thew a chronograph once and it was right at 4000fps

Absolutely! By "today's standard" some would say unethical. By my standard I say 22-250 is underrated.

I have always considered hunting sport - we raised enough beef we would have rather ate a hot dog when I was a kid. As an adult steaks look pretty good. Only time I remember surviving on wild life is when GM would go on strike.
