Looking for a change of gun shop scenery from my regular Salem area stores. Looking for your favorite gun store or pawn shop and why do you like it?

Shops Ive hit recently
TJs in Lafayette
Highline
Lincoln City Sporting Goods
Santiam Buyers

None at the present.
I am a buyer. On any given day, there are currently manufactured guns I would buy instantly if I found them on a dealer shelf.

But alas, when I enter a gun store, I see the same black and plastic guns I saw at the previous store. That's caused me to lose interest, and enter a gun store mostly to order or facilitate the transfer of the gun I just bought online. And they still get a cut of the deal.

Sounds critical, and it's not necessarily meant to be. The gun culture has changed, and the gun store culture has also changed.

I go way back. Back far enough, I remember when Warren (of The Gun Room), worked at Foster Sporting Goods, one of the best gun stores in the land. Like him or not, if a person will allow it, they can learn a lot from the Warren's of the world. I took trap lessons from him long ago, and as long as I shot trap, I used every bit of teaching he shared with me. And he taught me for free.

Ironically my favorite and least favorite are the same shop, and yes, it's The Gun Room

Favorite because of the stacks and racks of firearms, and least favorite because, well, it's The Gun Room :s0114:

I'd think that everyone, that is interested in firearms, should visit the gun room once. I certainly have not been into as many gun shops as the majority of people here. But I'd have to say that The Gun Room could possibly be in a class of it's own when talking "Gun Shops" shops.

#1 Oregon Rifleworks - nice selection, great customer service.

#2 Keith's Sporting Goods - Best selection and prices I've found anywhere. I've always received great customer service in the near 20 years I've been going there.

#3 Highline Firearms - Prices are questionable, but there's no doubt they have the best selection of firearms on the west side of the river.

#4 Sporting Systems - Dan and everyone else at the shop has been doing more for gun rights than any other gun shop I know of in the PNW. For that alone, they are one of my favorites, but they also have a great selection of firearms and accessories for every budget. Before they were neutered by WA gun laws, this shop was easily #1 I hope some day they can return to their former glory.

I would also have to mention Lucky's Sporting Goods. Though it is a home-based FFL so there's not a real storefront, I thoroughly enjoy working with Jeremy. I would highly recommend him to anyone on the west side.

What shops?
Rich's Gun Shop in Donald and Ole's in Salem. Those shops are where I cut my teeth into the firearm world. They were great places to find used guns at the time, as that's what my wallet only permitted at the time. Plus, Ole's always had the back room for used reloading equipment and components.

Oles was awesome! Bought some of my first guns from them!

The Gun Room = Archie Bunker, George Jefferson and Fred Sanford buy a gun shop...

Tick Licker Firearms Corvallis/Salem. Corvallis mostly since they are near me. :s0155:

While he didn't have an extensive in-house gun inventory he would move heaven and earth to find what you were looking for, and/or do any work that you need him to do on one of yours. That would be Jeremy at Lucky Sporting Goods out in Banks.

Couldn't agree more!
