not much of a gambler. played video poker 3 times. first time i put a 20 in and won $400. walked away. second time put a 20 in and won $350 walked away. third time put a 20 in and lost it all. never gambled again.

Gambling has never held my interest, however I did buy a lotto ticket a few times.

To me it was fun just thinking about how'd I spent some of the money...the day dreaming was worth the cost of admission.

To each their own, I got hooked on pull tabs about 30 years ago when I first got to Wa, I did well most of the time but realized that I was better at catching steelhead than winning at pull tabs in a bar...

Somewhat on the topic, I found that Oregon has a weird law that simply possessing a gambling device is a misdemeanor. I had a wacky idea of setting up a rumpus room with a wet bar, blackjack table, and roulette wheel. Not for actually gambling, of course, but to entertain guests. But at least one of those is illegal. Nanny State BS. Maybe the laws will be less moronic in Arizona.

(Doesn't matter; I ended up reproducing. Wife got a craft room. Wee Ones got a bedroom. And I've been relegated to the home office. )

I've played a lot of Texas Hold-em in Washington through the years, starting back when it was legal in Vancouver—enough that the regulars and floormen all knew me. The advantage is that you're playing against other players, not the house, and your chances of winning should be based on your skill level. Unfortunately, the amount of cheating, primarily partners playing at the same table and manipulating the betting, makes it almost impossible to win consistently. Since the dealers and floormen are often friends with, and well tipped by, the regular cheaters, there's no honest policing of the games.

For just fun, relaxing play, for me nothing beats Pai Gow, though I only play in games that have the bonus feature, with the (slight) chance of a really big payoff. There's little skill involved—you can even have the dealer set your hand 'the house way' for you.

These days, though I'm retired, it's uncomfortable for me to drive to LaCenter or Spirit Mountain from my home in Beaverton, so I rarely play. I did play poker online for awhile, but the cheating scandals at the two largest companies a couple of years ago, where the house could see all the cards and played through shills, made me wary of those venues, too.

I like to play anything in the casino really but my favorite is craps followed closely by blackjack. Was in Reno last week for Hot August Nights and did pretty well even on the slots. The slots at the Peppermill payed thats for sure. What I play depends on the amount I drink. Wasted its the slots as its mindless. My winnings went into a sweet 4l80e with trans brake for my Nova and a stand alone computer injection setup.
