Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
With one coat of powder, I added about .005 of thickness to the base of a 7.62x39 case. It also added some thickness to the overall diameter of the case. Once I run it through the sizing die, I expect that extra diameter to extend the overall case length. Between these two steps, I believe the excessive headspace issue will be solved.
As a side project I also powdered the inside of the primer pocket from an Indian brand of 5.56. These have oversized primer pockets .170, that won't hold normal small rifle primers. I will test a fit a primer in the coated pocket later today and see if this works. It wouldn't be practical for cheap brass but if you had some loose primer pockets in otherwise good and expensive brass it could be an option.
