It seems like flechette rounds might actually be useful against drones, if they can hold a decent pattern at distance. I would guess that a hit from a single flechette would disable most small to medium quadcopter drones.
All the flechette testing I've seen shows them pretty much worthless. But these are lightweight ones tested by the army and others tested in 12 gauge shells. A drone specific one with heavier flexhettes might work I don't know. Seems to me that lead or ? Balls with Kevlar line between them ( tons of those loaded into each cartridge) might work best. All one has to do is entangle the blades, not physically destroy the drone. So max spread with very fine wire woudl be most effective it seems to me from my layman's perspective. They do make shells that fire a net which is a similar concept. But the net has to be precise and also short range so I don't think it would work that great.

Ian has a good video about the army testing of flexhettes. All performed horrible.

I do not recall a Forgotten Weapons flechettes video, and didn't find one. I did see the flechette rifle episode, vague memories.

The sabot flechette shotgun rounds are reported to greatly improve velocity, reduce yawing, barrel gouging and dispersion, and increase accuracy. And I have zero experience with them.
