Russia had many nuclear powered stations on the border of Germany (I think they were weather stations but can't remember) that were completely abandoned for decades. Poeple often broke them down for the scrap metal and many people and animals died after exposing the nuclear fuel. Many of them are still there and many nuclear fuel sources exposed. Those probably got in the food chain.

 
What about Romania and Hungary and Czechia, they are closer to Ukraine and hunting boars is quite more common there than Germany, as i understood.
