I don't know...... I own one but I don't know if I'm a fan yet... The moon clips thing is going to take some getting used to. I think I like em but time will tell

I've had a couple an old Colt in 45 acp and a Charter arms in 40 S&W. Both have gone on to other owners. Honestly to me they didn't do anything that a comparable semi auto didn't do better. As a revolver they are fine and I see a lot speed shooters like Jerry Michilac rocking them. Nothing really wrong with them just not my cup o tea.

I've never had a revolver in anything other then .38sp and .357mag and a .22lr.

I would like to have one in something cheaper to shoot like a 9mm but it's not super high on my list of guns to own.

I'm a fan, but my thing is really only the historical guns, and this is the only one I have.

I do like it a lot- clips are cheap and it's easy to go through a lot of ammo at the range with super quick reloads. I never did understand the need for .45 Auto Rim rounds. I far and away prefer moon clips and wouldn't use Auto-Rim rounds if I had them.

I got this one cheap because it's not real pretty. It came with some ugly old Pachmayr grips. I made the ones on it now.

Yes, I like them. But I fully admit that basically, I bought them for the novelty. The ones I've owned are a couple of Smith & Wesson Model 547's (9mm), three Smith & Wesson Model 610's (10mm Auto), two Smith & Wesson Model 986's (9mm) and one Ruger SP-101 (9mm). The Model 547's didn't require stripper clips, they had unique revolver extractors that didn't require them. The other three models all took different designs from each other.

Oh, I almost forgot, it's been so long ago. One time I bought a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 at a garage sale for $25, it fired .45 ACP and took the "original" moon clips. I also had one of the British hinged frame WW1 service revolvers that had been modified to take .45 ACP with moon clips. These last two were not bought for their novelty but as shooting surplus guns.

Yes, I do.

Ruger 45 Colt / 45 ACP
S&W Governor, my 'snake poison' working in the yard gun. Typically has .410 loads up front, but carry a moon clip with 45 ACP in case the snakes are HUGE :D

I am a fan of pistol cartridges in revolvers. In a SA revolver it's a very easy and far cheaper no brainer. 9mm and .45 ACP cartridges are quite formidable in a revolver, and far cheaper to shoot than their revolver counterpart cartridges. And a SA revolver doesn't use moon clips.

But let's not stop there! I also shoot 9mm in DA revolvers. Speed Sixes, specifically. And although I can see some folks do prefer moon clips, I never use them. Just one more thing to lose. Takes me an extra couple of seconds to push them out with a pencil or whatever else is handy.

I have been searching for a GP-100 Wiley Clapp in 10mm since they first came out with them and instantly sold out. Ruger is great for pushing more and more plastic guns and ignoring what many of us still prefer.

I like the 1917 Colt and Smith & Wesson Army models...finely made for a issue sidearm .

The Ruger Blackhawk in .357 / .38 . 9mm...is an excellent revolver especially if you can find an un-molested 3-screw Model.
The Blackhawk in .45 Colt / .45ACP ain't bad either...'cept in only comes as the "New Model"...sigh

Uberti used to make a Colt Single Action Army copy in .45 Colt / .45ACP.

One of the Ruger Six series , I think it was a Speed Six came in 9mm....Never had one of those...but a friend did...it was a fun and fine shooter.

Sometimes it ain't capacity that makes a handgun work ...its all about how it shoots for you.

I will speak for myself and I do not like pistol cartridges in revolvers because normally those revolvers use "stars or rings" [ the term evades me ]. I like a rimmed cartridge of which thier are plenty in revolvers. In a revolver I will take a 45lc over a 45acp even though I love the 45acp.

I had an old beater 1917 that came in a group trade. I used to cut down 30-06 cases and load them up with 2400, .410 wads and #6 pellets. It made for a very impressive snake gun, birds within 30', tin can roller, etc. :)

I like the concept of revolvers in auto-pistol calibers. Kinda makes sense to have both in the collection, should the auto ever become incapacitated, you'd have the revolver as a fall back.

Besides, revolvers are such a different discipline to shoot, limited capacity, totally different manual of arms, I find revolvers to be a hoot to shoot. And for the aging back, there's the benefit of not chasing brass.

I have revolvers for two of the four auto-pistol calibers I shoot, being .45 ACP and 9mm. Thinking about a .380 revolver and would be cool to find a .38 Super revolver.

I'm a huge revolver guy and by far my favorite is a S&W Jerry Miculek edition in 9mm. I also have a one of 163 S&W 40 cal Performance Center that is a close second. Both use moon clips. I purchased the BMT Mooner Tool and lots of moon clips for them. No chasing brass, super fast reloads (even if I'm not fast), and far more portable than mags. I almost forgot the Taurus snubby in 9mm, it doesn't see much action though because, well, Taurus. My next one will be a S&W 610, mentioned earlier.

Yes, I have a couple that I enjoy. S&W 929 in 9mm and 625 in 45 ACP. Loading and unloading the moonclips is easy with a good tool (does cost some extra $). I like the speed of reloads, and as a reloader, I really appreciate not needing to retrieve individual brass expended from a semi auto. Picking up individual brass on gravel is harder then using the tool to remove brass from a moon clip once I'm home.

Here is the tools that I have and use:

What, no Taurus 9mm Revolver love…. I've not had a hiccup with mine, she just runs without issue.

RE : Post #18

I can remember when S&W also had a 9mm revolver.

Yeah, I missed out on buying that one. But then, I had many other 9mms.

Aloha, Mark

The title kind of says it: do you like wheelguns in automatic cartridges? Which ones and why? Thanks for sharing! :D
I prefer automatics for protection but really enjoy shooting revolvers at the range. I find there is something very cathartic about thumbing each round into the chamber of a revolver. I REALLY appreciate this slower pace vs shoving a magazine into a magazine well. I don't like moon clips for revolvers.

I wish my Webley didn't have a shaved cylinder! Some day I will buy some 45acp rimmed brass for it.
