I placed a order for a holster and the total was 26.95 I checked out using PP and was immediately charged $607.00! I received confirmation the 6 items were shipped and delivered, this was 1 hr after placing the order. I have no idea what or if anything was shipped and definitely not delivered! I filed with PP but don't hold out much hope of recovering the funds. I will never again use PP....

I always advise people to do their due diligence when buying online. If you look at the sites other offers it lends credence to the maxim 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't'. Below we see that they are offering 5000 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag for the absurdedly low price of $91:

Interesting scam site. Their listed address is an office building in Wichita, KS, but it's largely occupied by medical offices. They've got fake Google and TrustPilot images on there, hours of operation, etc. But the pricing is the giveaway for sure. Nobody sells guns for 80% off. And if they do, it's one or two clearance items, not all of them.

After this happened I checked the address and it turns out it's a empty house listed on Zillow, they must be in Japan since they got paid in Japanese Yen. I was looking for a Fobus j frame ankle holster and nobody had them except this site and I never looked at anything else on the site. I'm usually so friggen careful about these things. PayPal doesn't make it easy to file complaints and it seems that they're leaving it up between me and the scammers:mad:

Yes I got the office building as well.

Firearm shave dot com didn't ring any alarms? That's like lucky dragon or super noodle Chinese restaurants.

I wouldn't have thought a J frame holster in any flavor would have been difficult to find. That's rough.

I'm cheap, so I use sites like guns.deals for the lowest price. Sometimes, if I've never heard of the seller, I'll Google something like " ***ammo.com legit" or "***guns.com reviews" & the search will hit business review sites or gun forum discussions about the site. You'll be able to tell if the site's good within a minute typically.

I did that just while ago shopping for RMR or SRO & store called Fast Ammo came up. It wasn't scam, but people were discussing shady search result manipulation this store pulls & sure enough, when I put the order together for SRO, shipping came to something like over $60. For pistol red dot. 🤦‍♂️

In contemporary times, we are confronted with an array of alternative payment services. Just my opinion, but none of the ones I'm aware of seem as safe to use as those using traditional banking arrangements. Meaning, credit cards. Which offer certain protections for their users. As traditional businesses, they have set up security systems the costs for which they absorb as a business expense for their customers.

Credit cards are traditional banking arrangements. Card brands like Mastercard represent franchises that govern card rules, etc., but the banks are the actual agencies of finance.

The alternative payment services are by their nature non-traditional. And they don't want to pick up the costs of consumer protection that traditional systems have adopted and maintained. They want to make as much money as possible doing as little as possible to get it.

PayPal payments get processed through the banking system, but not before transactions go through the PayPal layer. It's pretty mainstream, offers buyer protections with exceptions. I've had an account with PayPal for a long time, but I very rarely use it these days.

We live in a world now that is rife with electronic fraud. Even the legit, traditional systems are not immune to fraud. Too good to be true luring schemes are an easy way for scammers to make money. But the better ones go beyond just taking your money for something they won't deliver, they go further and manipulate the transaction to involve larger dollar amounts than originally authorized.

If you can provide copies of the transaction, receipt, whatever, that may help in a PayPal fraud resolution case.

I quit doing business with unknown companies and stick to the businesses that have been around for decades now because of the proliferation of scams. That and I don't like giving all my info to so many companies that will increase to likely hood of getting stolen. Smaller footprint = less risk

Sounds/Looks like more of this crap goes on every day. I do most of my buying on Amazon. Not much gun stuff though. Just the stuff that, anymore, is hard to find size/style in stores without traveling all over hell!

A couple of questions:
What makes PayPal (and others, Apple Pay?) so great, what does it do that CCs don't/cant?
Is it people that can't get credit cards that use PP etc?
If it's a PIA to get money back from PP/AP in a case like this, why would a sensible, logical person use the service?

It allows me to buy something from you on here, and that's about it! My wife has Venmo account that I use sometimes. I tried PayPal once but they're awful.

That's it huh? Well in that case, who would be interested in this fine bridge I have? It's in a dream city and will bring in $3K a day in tolls and only require a /dollar Two-Ninety-Eight in maintenance a day. It's a sure get-rich deal for the right person. I promise.

Check your checking or cc account to see if you were actually charged that amount. I've gotten "Thanks for your order" message denoting PP. They do not come from PP. They want you to respond in someway, or reach out to the listed phone number. Its a scam. Separately go to your PP account and go to security and copy them

Scammers should be turned into a red stain.

My Pay Pal account is linked to a single bank account.

That account is used only for Pay Pal and normally has a $2.00 balance.

It is not linked to any other accounts (over draft protection).

When I use Pay Pal to pay for a purchase I add (via transfer) only enough $ to pay for what I just bought.

I hate getting snookered and I really really hate being robbed.
