Apparently, you've met my ex. Right down to which pots and pans would be retained….There's some small minded people in the world, who will even fight over a paperclip.

Omg! Her thing the last 6 months has been Pokemon cards. Thousands and thousands of dollars on the damn things! And would never tell me how much she was spending.
Pokémon cards??? Wtf?Omg! Her thing the last 6 months has been Pokemon cards. Thousands and thousands of dollars on the damn things! And would never tell me how much she was spending.
There's a resurgence in interest in those because some of the packs reportedly have super rare cards, it's just a gambling addiction, people buy packs and packs hoping to find the gold plated Charizard super mega card or some nonsensePokémon cards??? Wtf?

It's exactly an addiction. No different than gambling. There's a resurgence in interest in those because some of the packs reportedly have super rare cards, it's just a gambling addiction, people buy packs and packs hoping to find the gold plated Charizard super mega card or some nonsense
I guess it was a rumor started by the people that produced the cards to drive sales
Not even 10% of what's laying around. It's exactly an addiction. No different than gambling.

I gotta blame myself too for enabling this behavior for too long. I just don't understand it.Pokémon cards??? Wtf?
It's real easy to miss the "obvious" warning signs if you have no idea WTF is going onI just don't understand it.
That needs professional help. It's one thing for a single person to go down that road…. But married folks with kids and other financial responsibilities, can't indulge in such adventures. Unless your investments are returning like the Pelosi's…It's exactly an addiction. No different than gambling.

Wow.I'm sorry for you, your wife and your kids. My mother and father divorced when I was four. I was told someday I'd understand. I never have. Went to visit my dad's resting place a couple weeks ago and wondered why. I still have hard feelings towards him for giving up. I found my wife 29 years ago. It's been a roller coaster ride. There have been many moments that I wanted to walk away but I was either too stubborn or too lazy to do that. I stayed for my kids and times have gotten better. I'm not judging you so please don't take it that way, just want you to know this will have a big effect on your family and things will never be the same. Best of luck…..

I'm pretty convinced that first time marriages that last forever are like rare unicorns, a blessing from some divine entity and I'm not even religious. You have something more than good fortune.Mrs. Merkt and I have been together 51 years. When we married she was 18, I was 23. People at that age are basically clueless about relationships. I made a fortunate choice. We still like each other.

Boy don't I know that! I was 20 and she was 16. We had a ton of growing up to do and it seemed the whole world was against us. We had our first child a year later. If you think 16 is too early for a girl to marry, you're absolutely right! I wouldn't allow any of my daughters to marry at that age, but they have a lot better parent/family situation then my wife had or me for that matter. We have survived many storms together and thanks to the Lord we are still hanging in there. Congratulations on 51 years, that's awesome!Mrs. Merkt and I have been together 51 years.
