Anyone else deeply offended at seeing DHS in full force in downtown Portland today hanging out at the max stations? I'm pretty sure we already have our own local state/county/and city police force here that we pay for and elect the leaders of. So why are we being policed by DHS? The anniversary of something that happened 11 years ago and 3000 miles away is hardly a reason to have a bunch of LEO washouts eyeballing me when I step off the max.

It's Trimets way of making the sheep feel safer.
We all know it wont prevent an attack of any kind it's just Trimet covering their ***.

It's all a show...... yeah some terrorist is gonna refuse to pay for a Tri-Met pass and blow up the max o_O
Binladin is hiding in my sponge bob undies lol call the authorities at once! Thank god I was off work today because I would have been shaking my head at the goons in uniform. I remember last year we had to roll code 2 at work (security) to make our presence known in an empty lot where there were no assets or people.

They now have new announcements on the max telling us how if we see something suspicious we should tell a Tri-Met employee or call 9-1-1. The also have a poster of a half of a female's face (showing one eye! can you say Illuminati?) and on the bottom it says SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING. Thank you Tri-Met for telling me I should say something if I see something suspicious, because I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. I tell you what is the real act of terror..... charging someone $100 a month for an all zone pass. I had one of their ticket goons hassle me once just because I left my wallet with month pass at home.... I had no ID but my Badge and he accused me of lying to him after I showed him my uniform shirt on me covered by my jacket. He got on such a rush I was about to laugh at him. Long story short.... he issues me a ticket for $175, I went to court and beat it and all was well. But I also met some good drivers and inspectors that work for Tri-Met.

Sorry you had a bad experience when you left your Tri-Met pass at home. But I think the rest of us were talking about the increased Homeland Security presence on public transportation systems on the anniversary of 9/11. You may have missed that.

No I didn't miss the point :). I ride the trimet max 5 days a week and the last time I saw the DHS and or TSA goons was during the rose parade in 2011.... I didn't see them at the rose parade this year. Either way it's an illusion when the DHS come around during 9/11..... it's just a show to impress the sheep. It's the law enforcement reality show for sure.

Bottom line, it is pointless and I would personally be offended seeing the DHS at the max station or inside the max when our boarders are wide open.

What part of DHS was that ? They have a ton of child agencies with various functions, and only some have federal law enforcement authority. I also believe they can't enforce state and local laws.

TSA they are everywhere these days its the new gov union that has expanded its power in trains planes and sporting events and who knows what else. Spending billions in tax payer money and is a joke. They were probally in town for Paul Ryan that was in downtown Portland which I thought was Secret Services job. I guess they all want overtime these days.

We're all apathetic until we see military maxxpro's disguised as civilian police vehicles rolling down our neighborhood streets. I've got a feeling most of these DHS goons are guys that couldn't get through the PsychVal at their local PD. Scary people with license to kill.

I also read that TSA gave Trimet 1.2 million dollars to install camera's on the ten remaining max stations that didnt have them. That's a whopping $120,000/camera!!!! whoa, I would have installed them for half that and laughed all the way to the bank.

I feel ya.... I see people everyday that are rejects. Again I know this person who wants to be a cop so bad but recently he got denied with internship to Portland Police for his DUI.... well people like him are power hungry and I am sure there is a spot for him in the TSA family. As for the vehicle.... that thing would be ubber cool during our snow and ice storms hahahahah pulling people out of ditches :) but you know they will just drive right past you and the only time they stop is to check your papers lol.

DHS rode the MUNI and stood "on-guard" at the major stops downtown in San Francisco for about a week a year or so ago.

They wore khaki pants, blue polo shirts and blue bullet-proof vests with big yellow "DHS" across the back and front. Full-sized semi-autos on their hips or thighs. They were escorted by local SFPD and MUNI security.

I gave them all the stink-eye every time I'd see them that week, and made sure to give a hearty "sieg heil" and salute to all the ones standing on the street corners.

(Say what you will about SF, one think I miss is the feeling that I could actually exercise my 1st amendment there. I wouldn't try some of the confrontational stuff I could do down there with authority in Portland, PPD does whatever they want here and there aren't thousands of Bay Area civil rights lawyers rearing for a case like down there.)

the dhs and tsa are a joke! i will be happy if/when they are abolished! all they hire are a bunch of morons who'll do whatever they're told. they don't hire intelligent people because they know those ones will question the stupid, pointless policies. you guys should have filmed those bumbling idiots. watch what happens to those who film them:
