I have this same rifle. The NW edition does not work stock with 209 primers. It is an open ignition breech plug that only takes musket caps for ignition. It can be configured to use 209 primers which entails purchasing a different breech plug/firing pin kit. Good luck with the sale! These are excellent shooters.

Mine came with the 209 breech plug in the box and it works with the same firing pin

That is pretty weird. I literally have the same rifle and to use a 209 primer instead of the NW ignition system, the firing pin has to be swapped out. Maybe CVA just changed the design in the last 6 months?
