Charger, please share what you (she) decided upon. Great idea taking her to a gun show. Let her look, ogle, hold, etc. as many as you and her can stand. I suggest taking a pencil and pad with you. I tend to forget which make/model I liked 30 mins prior, on the other side of the show. Pencil and pad is great for details: make, model, price, etc.

I almost forgot...
Don't discount a Bersa for a first gun.
I really like my stainless Thunder 380 cc. it's a joy to shoot. tuff as nails and very reliable as a cc. I removed the mag lock on mine. (easy...took under a minute)
They make some nice 9mm's as well (in single or double stack versions)
