What is really comical about this is the states that they show as the crime havens, the "worst" are far and away the places with the least crime.

I would guess that is the number of "deny" transactions since 96 when BGC became required. What they fail to say is the department of Justice found something around 40% of those people ended up not actually being a prohibited person.

Brady scores the states based on the amount of laws they LIKE, not on if a law is effective or not. Most of the website is comical as many of the conclusions they make are opposite of reality.

For example, in 2013 (ATF data), most 'crime' guns traced in states with background checks come from... states with background checks! The top of the list is California, with 89% of crime firearms recovered from California. Here's an additional link to a study that goes into more detail;
