"A well regulated zombie response militia, necessary to the function of a zombie-free state, the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed..."

I've been locked in my apartment for so long now, I ran out of movies to watch and started doing some arts and crafts projects. I decided to decorate a couple ammo cans with stencils and spray paint.

I picked up these two 30 caliber ammo cans at BiMart for $10 each. The bigger stencil was custom made for me by a seller on eBay, $7 with free shipping. The smaller stencils that say ".22LR" and "9mm" were also from eBay, $2.50 each with free shipping. The shipping was fast, only two or three days via USPS.

In order to fill the .22LR can, I purchased 3 boxes of "Federal Black Pack" at 1,100 rounds per box. The .22 box holds 3,300 rounds. I was able to purchase these boxes of Federal (during the ammo shortage) at BiMart for $50 each.

The 9mm box was proving more difficult to fill during the ammo shortage, so I bought some 9mm in bulk here on the forum. Thank goodness for the forum! The 9mm box holds 1,200 rounds.

Part of pretending that there will be a zombie apocalypse is getting yourself prepared, and part of being locked in your house for weeks on end is making ridiculous arts and crafts projects. I hope the quarantine will be over soon, I've been shopping on Amazon for tactical dog harnesses and looking up ways to attach varmint guns to molle straps.

I hope you like the ammo cans! Maybe they will give you some good ideas about customizing your own ammo cans? Let me know what you think?

Stay safe out there!

-Kris

eBay has a lot of cool ammo can stencils, on the cheap too! The stencils are typically made from this weird cardstock that's been impregnated with wax or some kind of oil. The letter presses used are military surplus, so they look really authentic. I found that the first two coats caused what looks like webbing in between the letters, I used a tiny arts and crafts round file and a cigarette lighter to remove the paper strands from inside the lettering. It might be a good idea to do a couple test stencils first to see if you need to clean up the webbing. The tiny stencils seemed to need more cleanup than the larger stencil.

...glad you like the idea, can you share a photo with us when you get your stencils done?
I'm pretty sure I'll be stealing this idea...
All my cans just have boring ol Sharpie-on-masking tape labels.
Thank you.
