So, I am looking for a very short and compact 5.56㎜ silencer for a new Armalite-type rifle, that should be here on 30ᵺ. Already have a can for that caliber, but it is presently wed to a CAR-15-ish SBR, and think will leave there. I'd like to keep this one abbreviated as the rifle it would go on has 20" barrel and I could see using such a device on a future, vaguely planned at this point, varmint-focused bolt-action in the caliber. I was surprised to find there are a good number that fit this bill out there, but don't have any experience with them.

Also, as I was snooping around for options on the aforementioned, I was reminded have been long been interested in micro silencer for, say, Walther PPK/S sized automatics in either 7.65㎜ Br (.32 ACP) or 9㎜ Short (.380 ACP). Hanging a yuge 9⨯19㎜ can off of such just doesn't make sense.

Thread pitch would be ½⨯28 on the first for sure. Not positive on the latter as host isn't 100% yet.

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks. 😊

I've mounted the scope much closer to the bore but this is my go too bolt action varmint and target .22lr using subsonic ammo with a Rugged Oculus 22 Modular can...

It's a Ruger American Rimfire 22lr with stainless bull barrel...

The Oculus 22 is rated up to 5.7x28

I second the JK 105 CCX for the 9mm/32 As for the 5.56 you should look into Otter Creek Polonium's. There's a Full size and a K variant. Either option will be great to leave on that gun.

EDIT: Also, check out the Energetic Arms Ferox. <- Non flow through but low back pressure design. Full auto Rated and if you strike the can their warranty is super easy to work with. The way the suppressor was built allows for them to just replace the whole baffle core within 5 minutes and get it shipped back out right away.

If you are looking for a 9mm can that is super light and small, but with great sound suppression, 1000% you should get the new titanium SilencerCo Spectre 9. Weighs only 3.9 OUNCES- you dont even realize it's there. I have 9 cans, 4 9mm cans, and this one is by far my favorite. Dont think, just buy it. ;-)

Here it is on my newly acquired Staccato CS that I just picked up today ;-)

For 556 I've been doing research for probably the past 4 months and JUST bit the bullet (pun intended here) today on a Otter Creek Polonium K.

I too wanted a dedicated 556 shorty since I'm running a 16in and it was either that or the yhm fatcat. Both have great reviews and branding behind them.

There's also the Banish Speed K buts that's 💰💰

If weight is not a priority b&t makes some 3 d printed all inconel cans for very reasonable price and that's what I would buy if it were me. Inconel will last forever. Arms unlimited often has good prices on these.

Arrrrrise from the grave.

So, much like whenever I interface with anything AR, I quickly lost interest on adding a can to the M16A1 thingy. However, I am looking a compact can for auto pistols. A local shop mentioned in passing they had a small .32 ACP silencer, but I didn't view because needed to get going. Might circle back to them shortly or next time I'm in for a pew transfer.

Thoughts on a very compact can that could be dedicated for a vz61? Or, even better, a small one that would work for both the vz61 and Beretta 92fs? Threaded barrels for the 92fs that would be recommended?

Thanks!

Any 9mm can would "work" for the vz61 but it's unlikely that it would be as good as a dedicated 32 acp option. This would be a solid choice, good performance on the 92fs and small and light enough to not be clumsy on the vz61

Don't know anything about .32 really but for 9mm not sure you can beat the huxwrx flow 9k ti. With the way suppressor technology is changing, buying the old non flow through style is not wise imo.

9k ti is only 4.8 ounces without the booster. That's insanely light. 3d printed titanium. Small length. Flow through means you can use on a wide variety of platforms without increasing gas to your face, increasing bolt speed (and thus wear to the gun as well as possible malfunctions), and keeps gun cleaner. I don't see anything better out there personally except maybe Ptr vent. Adaptive firing solutions had one in stock for $600 so shop around they should be that much or possibly less. Comes with booster and I think direct mount (double check that). So it's ready for tilting barrel pistols as well as fixed.

Since suppressors are a long term thing for most people, imo now is not the time to buy old technology and kick yourself ina couple years when you see others raving about the benefits of the more advanced cans.

For my vz61 can I had @wired make me one. Personally I like shooting 32 suppressed more than 9mm my other suppressor capable 32s have non tipping barrels which make a direct thread can, ideal

+1 on the YHM Fat Cat if the compromises are worth it to you.

The can is significantly quieter than other 5.56 shorty cans.
The can is quite a bit louder than other 5.56 cans that are similar weight/volume but are longer instead of fatter.

Is it hearing safe? Not by any standard or recommendation out there, no. Would I shoot it a bunch at the range with no ear pro? Also no. Will it keep your from ringing your ears if you use it without ear pro indoors in an emergency? Yes it will.

If your use case is wanting to maximize suppression while minimizing length the Fat Cat is probably the optimal compromise/solution on the market right now. If you are prioritizing anything else other than that specific compromise then there are better options. But since you said you were specifically looking for a short and compact suppressor, I am going to guess that is indeed the exact compromise you are looking for, so I would check it out.
