Hello everyone, I've got this colt detective special up for trade. It has some cosmetic wear and some rust spots. Mechanically it seems okay, but I recently broke the firing pin. I may repair it, but I'd like to see whats out there in the mean time. Can include some accecories, interested in another handgun, like another revolver or an autoloader (maybe like a CZ82 or other surplus pistols, but I am also interested in others as well).

I've got a 1949 one of these. It had some exterior rust and a bit of pitting on the outside of the barrel. Had a very good pistolsmith go over it and do some touching up of the bluing. It isn't perfect but it is a great gun and locks up better than most high-end modern custom revolvers. These are fantastic guns.

Yeah for sure, I do like it quite a bit and like I said, I may keep it. I just want to check what's out there before committing to repairing it.

I like your Colt, i have a Very good RIA 9mm 1911 I might trade, need to find out how hard it is to fix that pin though !

I'll thimk about it, can you send some pictures? I may just order a new hammer assembly, doesn't seem too hard to replace.

Or you might just go with a replacement firing pin and retaining pin. Check at Numrich Gun Parts.

I think I will end up keeping it, I ordered the replacement hammer and I'll try to do the repair. Thanks for the offer though, definitely a neat gun!
