Hey all so I'm hoping for some thoughts and opinions on these little cans. The reviews seem to be pretty split, half the folks say it's the worst silencer purchase they've made. The other half really seem to like them. I got a pretty good deal on one so it's too late talk me out of it hahah anyway thanks!

Well, there's a lot of aluminum which I'm not a big fan of, though considering aluminum is what makes up the piston and cylinder head in many engines... there's not a really great reason why. Just seems less good when titanium is an option.

You're not wrong. It's pretty much all aluminum. The blast baffle and piston are all that's steel in pretty sure…i can pretty surely say I wouldn't have paid msrp for it. I got it for less than their cost, they have had them setting for a while since they tend to push full more full size and modular cans. They wanna get rid of the stuff that's been sitting around. It's smaller than my obsidian 9 in k configuration and it's smaller than my other couple 9mm "sub gun" style cans. It's gonna primarily live on a 43x and maybe a 30x once in a while.

What are your expectations for sound reduction? Their full size mod 9 is 136 db at the muzzle. SK (k size) should be much louder than that.

For reference obsidian 9 full size is 134.7, k size is 148.7 That's about 2.5-3 times louder than the full size. It would be about 6 times louder than a PTR vent 2, which is the quietest 9mm can I'm aware of.

Honestly my expectations aren't high. It's a small can with few baffles. I don't expect the same performance as my obsidian 9 or my fatter longer sub gun style cans. But In my experience some suppression is a lot better than none. I don't expect hearing safe by any means but if it'll make my wife's shooting experience a little nicer with her 43x I'll be happy with it.

Well I got out and got to try it today. IMO it sucks. It's the worst 9mm silencer I own. It's loud but it's small so kinda to be expected. The tone was terrible on both host I brought with both loads. Back to the drawing board, maybe I'll try something goofy like a tri lug setup on my 30x with it. If I can find somewhere it shines I'll make another update.

Try an AB suppressor F4. Small light weight, works on most guns without needing a piston. I've used it on my Glock 19 without any issues.

I've got a full sized Mod 9. Meh, don't is it much anymore. I prefer the lighter and smaller cans, even on my subguns.

Thanks I'll look into them. I'm really on the hunt for something that isn't huge on a 43x.

IMO small has to be loud. It's physics. Huxwrx flow 9k ti is not small (5.3"x 1.47") but it's light at 5 oz. People seem to like the spectre as well. It's a question of how much sound performance are you willing to give up for small size.

It may be a bridge too far to effectively suppress such a small gun without doubling its size or more. You could try an Odessa 9 to keep it thin as an alternative. If it were me I would go with a different host.

Spectre 9 (not Spectre 9k, which would probably give you same issues I would guess cuz physics). Pressure (ie sound) = (gas x temp)/volume

Here are some dimensions for comparison.

Huxwrx cash 9 (as a stand in for flow 9 k ti, flow is a little shorter and a little thicker) on Arex zero compact:

Arex vs 43x for comparison (Arex is 1/2" longer)

Cash 9 size 5.5 x 1.375 5.9 oz

Flow 9 k Ti size 5.3 x1.47 5 oz

Spectre 9 size 4.76 x 1.37 3.9 oz

Update! I tried it on my 30x with some 900 fps pmc bronze. It still sucks lol. It's not as bad but I wouldn't recommend it anyone with even semi functional ears. I'm gonna try it again but wet and then I'm gonna try it on a couple .22s but currently I believe I can honestly classify it as a $400 9mm blast can. My hopes weren't that high but if this thing was sealed I'd almost think there was no baffles in there.
