I recently picked up a 945 Industries bag to carry my RXM in hot weather. Love the bag, the quick pull is crazy fast, and actually nicer than AIWB I think because its all one handed. I did notice that if you dont absolutely rip the cord though, it would catch on my optics. If you do rip it, it was still hitting and scratching the optics up pretty good.

I guess the easy fix would be go by the tired and true K.I.S.S. and ditch the optics, but I'm not gonna do that!

Here is what I came up with, I plan to remake it better but for now this seems to work. There is a Velcro strip on the opening flap, so I made this little flap that covers the optics, keeps the zipper from catching on anything, and folds out of the way when deployed and after many practice draws seems to have no chance of snagging up or preventing the gun from being drawn. It also, being made from lens cloth, doubles as a way to clean the optics, lol.

I feel like this is a great fix but wanted some opinions on if this is smart or not.

Are you 100% certain that bag won't get in the way and add time to the draw? And does that include if it's completely dark? It looks like it could get in the way but it's hard to tell from the photos.

With that said, it seems like the fundamental problem may be that the bag is too small for the intended gun?? So maybe a slightly bigger bag would be a better solution??

100% there's nothing to catch or get in the way. Everything fits with room to spare, I just can't be ok with scratching my $300 optic. Yes it's a tool, but it's an easy to fix to keep it from dinging.

The idea looks good, one question is if carried all day if the white cloth would shift down and off the optic and not be there when needed.
Another thing you could try is reposition the holster on the backpanel forward so the muzzle touches the side of the bag, possibly rotate the muzzle slightly down which will reduce or change the contact area on the optic. A small change might make a big difference.

Shifting is my only concern, but I think its tight enough in there it wont. I have tried every position and its either a weird draw, or scratching the optic.
