Cabelas is not rationing powder or keeping stock in back to portray scarcity. It's simply fire code. They frequently have good stock of powder and most primers, stored in compliance with fire codes. Large rifle primers have been the most troublesome to keep in stock of late.
Yeah it's not fire code, no other store is doing this. The main reason for it was to reduce theft and control supply, this was info from an employee.
You now have to rely on them telling you the truth about what they have and hope they don't lie to you.
To further prove this point, that's why there is always a police car parked out front now and for the last 3 years.
 
I worked for an outfit that would claim, "State law requires" (this, that and the other thing).

And they would actually "quote State Law" in memos or bulletins to bolster their claim, fully confident no employee would actually look up the state law and quote it accurately (showing their "requirement" to be entirely manufactured).

They learned to hate me. :cool:
