Build year of Remington Model 6 .22 s/n S1974xx?

I just picked up an old Remington boys rifle at the Albany gun show this weekend. I'm sure I paid way too much, but I really like it and have no regrets.

I'd like to know the year it was built. I know it's before 1914 since its s/n is 45000 lower than one I found via Google.
