I have shipped many guns. Ups or postal annex is my box getting places.

Take the buttstock and the handgrip off and an AK with mags will fit in a lot of off the shelf box options available from any U-Haul, Fed-X, or UPS locations.

They shouldn't have any problem with it. I've shipped a lot of guns over the years and I don't think the form of the box deviating from what we think of aa a 'rifle box' will be a concern. Actually it's probably better that it doesn't look like a rifle box when you think of it.

Shipmygun labels are set for a long rifle or pistol size box and like 15lbs ish.
Just buy a box that fits the assembly. You're not saving any money otherwise. Boxes are cheap.

I just pay my local gun shop to ship guns when I sell them. They box it up for me and ship it sometimes for less than I can ship it myself (especially if it's a pistol).
