One of the members at the range where I'm a member died earlier this year. His stuff was being disposed of. Including lots of fired brass. At some point, I was asked if I wanted any. The other day, I picked up a box of 9mm brass that he'd started work on. These are all (nominally) cleaned, decapped and sized.
I won't have to size any 9mm brass for a while. Or maybe never again. I say these were nominally cleaned, as when I look through them, I can see some what still have black carbon on them. Meaning, they were sized with some of the carbon still present. The sizing process just kinds of burnishes it deeper. Typically to clean pistol brass, I decap it, then chemically clean it (to remove such carbon), then rinse, let it dry, then go on to sizing. I will probably just toss those such as I find in this lot into the recycling and not bother with them. this was a hefty box, about 35 lbs.
