Bedding release for anodized aluminum?

I am bedding a Ruger 10/22 with a anodized receiver that is slightly rough, like an AR. What should I use as a release to coat the receiver?

Beeswax, chapstick, parafin, automotive paste wax, etc.

Well it is epoxied in. We will see if it comes out tomorrow.

It took some massaging but came loose. Definitely harder than the last one I did with a smooth coated receiver. A thin area of epoxy pulled apart where it is easy to repair. The epoxy was hard to remove from the anodizing there.

I was just reading my old issues of Precision Shooting, Tactical Shooter, and The Accurate Rifle (those were the best gun magazines ever published). They had many articles about bedding rifles. Apparently Pam non-stick cooking spray works very well as a release agent.

I use Birchwood Casey stock wax for just that purpose. It has never failed.

Well overall success. Acraglass release is terrible. Car wax is ok but will not release as easy with anodizing. Proshot release worked well with the anodizing. I suspect it is some type of wax but has a slightly different consistency and did not dry like the car wax.

Spray can reloading case lube works good.

We used to use that stuff in the Army to get our floors buffed to an AMAZING level of shininess....

Johnson's is a good rust coating for metal too

Clear packing tape, along with a healthy coat of Turtle Wax is the go to we use in the aircraft world, it works every time, and is pretty easy to clean up after, though pealing the tape can be tricky on small parts, acetone is your friend!
