It has quickly become obvious that making my own blend of daily beard oil will be the cheapest way to get both quality and dial in what works for me.

I do not have dry skin, if anything it runs a little oily. I have pretty coarse beard hair and am not going to grow it to much longer (I think). It's around half an inch or so at this point and I like the look plus ease of care.

Anyone make their own and use anything other then the most common ones or in very specific ratios?

I ordered a few that based on beard articles about oils seem like they would be the ideal mix for me but I can't find anything about ratios so I was just going to wing it and go with equal parts.

I ordered:

Jojoba Oil
Vitamin E Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Argan Oil

Plus 4x 1oz dropper bottles

My wife has an impressive amount of food grade essential oils and I added some Jasmine to the bottle of beard oil I have because it wasn't a bad smell but not great either.

I can see myself trying cedar and a few others or possibly blend a couple and see if anything wonderfully comes from it.

(I saw a scent on Amazon that was Sweet Tobacco and cedar that sounds like it would be amazing but no idea how to get sweet tobacco oil…)

Anyway, it seems like bear care is very personal and while I have a fairly thick beard that grows quickly, I have only ever used the beard wax to train it and have never taken the time to oil it to get it softer and healthier.

Thanks for any input and advice!

My neck beard doesn't require any oil if I only wash it every couple of weeks! Just playin' here so don't shoot first!

Just mineral oil on my beard, and I'm GTG.

Also, instead of buying 1oz bottles of pre mixed oils at $20 each.

I got 48 oz of oils for about $50 and I'm frugal with my funds.

WTF is beard oil? I've had a beard since about 84 and never put anything on it except soap, water and the ol lady must be some new candy azz thing to do.

Bear grease and deer tallow...Wait...wrong thread...:D

Whatever shampoo and conditioner is on hand.
I also have a short beard / coarse beard hair
I find that keeping it clean seems to do the trick here.

Never tried the oils but as I get more white in my beard it is becoming extremely coarse and if left to its own, tends to grow in some differing directions.

I've been using a oil my wife bought me several years ago and brushing it out twice a day and I am much much happier with the texture, consistency and ease of brushing to get it all straight so I'm a convert at this point.

I'm sure it's all the rage for some folks wherein flannel ironically that have never been out of the city but for me it just looks more professional at work and is much easier to manage.

I guess it would count as an after shower hair conditioner if it were a lady product?

You do realize that pubic hair isn't isn't supposed to be straight?

:D

I bought a small bottle of beard oil at Wall Mart to try. I think it was a little less that $12.00. I learned I shouldn't hang my glasses in the neck of my shirt. I only use it a couple times a week, if that. And I use a leave-in conditioner after shower.

Mike, all you need is a black turban, some judges robes, and you could be an Ayatollah for Halloween.
