Lives in bear country. Takes children for walk in bear country.
Doesnt take bear gun...

Offers counseling in the aftermath...

I started to write something derogatory, B.C. being a suburb of Seattle and all...

But even I don't know the whole truth of everything that happened, so I will remain quiet.🫢

This incident happened 700 KM (435 miles) NW of Vancouver BC. It's way out there relatively speaking
And yes, I do understand that. With my disdain of socialist cities and countries, it's difficult to not jab at them, deserved or not.

My whole life, even as a child, I spent a lot of time in the woods and mountains. My children also. At any given time, we were likely spitting distance of bears and cats. The bears and cats remained well behaved, and for many folks, they would believe safety is not an issue.

Apparently this bear incident was in an indigenous community and/or school. These folks live among big bears. I just don't know what should be expected of a classroom on a walking trail in grizzly country.

Indeed. Although the First Nation people have been there long before whites... It does bring up some uncomfortable questions as to why they didn't have other ways of dealing with grizzlies now, compared to their forebears who set up traps and pitfalls and controlled where grizzlies could go.
