Anyone know what's going on I'm being told by my FFL that the background check system is delayed because they are way behind on background checks?

Two weeks isn't enough that's BS.

What a bunch of BS....

Make an (unconstitutional) mandate, then don't fund or adequately staff the means to execute and fulfill the mandate... too bad for you proles, sit down shut up and wait until we're ready to tell you that you can!

Happenings like this ....
Mean that when anti gun people say :
"No one is going to take your guns away"..... they could be telling the truth.

There is no need to take guns away.
All ya gotta to do is :

Place a tax or fee , that has no limit on firearm and ammo purchases...
Make the process to purchase firearms and or ammo a huge PITA ...
Restrict when and where you can carry and shoot....
All this and more , Washington firearm laws have done.

Then simply de-fund and de-staff the departments that oversee all of the above .
( As mentioned in post #3 )

And poof...for all intents and purposes the 2nd Amendment is null and void.
No gun confiscation required.

All in all ....this is BS and does nothing to prevent crime or keep people safe....
It does however prevent people from exercising a RIght.

:s0153: Why on earth would the State of WA need to check-out a citizen's behind?…

Uhhh,… oh wait….nevermind…

HB 1143 went into effect on January1, 2024. That law eliminated any time restrictions (3-day Brady rule) on how long the State can take to process a BGC. The State can take as long as they want to complete the BGC, and there are no means of recourse other than a lawsuit that I know of.

I got an email from the FFL this morning of my Proceed approval, the actual approval may have been quicker but the FFL sent the email this morning during business hours. All things considered, it was within 24 hours.

Mandatory wait of 10 business days still applies.

My last background check in March went through in less than 24 hours after I paid my FFL for the pistol. It took 10 days before I was able to take possession of it.

Same issue. My shop is telling me he's got some in there 30+ days old
Yup. This is exactly what the concern was before this legislation went into effect. That WSP could keep people into a continuous cycle, hence, deny the people without legally denying them, just keep them in a loop and never being approved. After 30 days, the 4473 is void, a new BGC has to be submitted, and the cycle continues. I imagine some people will just give up at a certain point. It's all part of the plan.

Not sure about the background check time specifically, but I know someone who purchased a pistol from Sportman's Warehouse in-person in March and was able to pick it up 15 days later.

Still happening...

WSP background checks that are auto cleared go through within a day or so. waiting period still applies, 10 business days.

When the NICS check isn't automatic, or if there is another flag from the other sources WSP is checking, that requires an examiner to handle the file. That's where 10+ day delays are falling. WSP claims they don't have enough examiners to handle the workload. We called BS on that item directly with WSP...they staffed up for 500,000 checks per year, they only processed 250.000 and cant get those done. They say they are understaffed, and a hiring freeze is preventing the hire/training of new examiners. If its a critical safety function required by law (so they say), seems like you have to cut the DEI coordinators and training and hire a examiners.

Still, there is a deliberate work slow down in the agency. slow walking to try and get more funding. Remember they are supposed to be developing the HB1163 permitting and training regime that goes into effect next year. They haven't started. That passed a year ago and they've done nothing, as it wasn't funded.

These are political games being played with your rights. And it's going to get A LOT worse before it gets better. Wait until the pre-1163 rush begins.

I'm looking forward to moving out of this state after my kids graduate it's getting worse and worse with corruption and taxes those go hand in hand.

There system is bubblegumed currently. I always get instants but me and everyone else went in the que today. Not one instant in the busy store. 1/2 hour wait. He said about noon so magnummike must have just made it before the issue started.
