Form 4 individual for a suppressor submitted Friday 2/20 approved this morning Tuesday 2/24. Not counting the weekend, less than 3 working days.

Just did my first kiosk submission last night. TBH, not sure that it's any easier than submitting it yourself, especially since you need to pay them $75. I've got my own ATF account, electronic fingerprint file and can update my photo whenever I want.

Had to send Silencer Shop my user name and pin. Wish the distributors had a method to just mail it to the purchaser after approval. Seems that's the way I did the last one several years ago.

Capitol armory ships to your home, Silencershop doesn't.

Never dealt with Capitol Armory, as we had/have no way to reasonably do electronic prints for them & didn't feel like doing cards.

Now that you've setup your Silencershop via kiosk, you never have to use the kiosk again.

However you do have to certify once your ffl receives each "whatever". We certify in person at our FFL. That's when "the clock" starts on approval for each "whatever".

Supposedly there is some way to certify remotely with Silencershop. Never done so, unlikely we'll try. Maybe if/when fiber optic is installed in our neighborhood...

Have bought two from capital armory and worked great. Mail to your door.

I paid for a new silencer (scythe stm) from a prominent specialty gun shop in Vancouver Wa last Friday. Can was In stock, and on the shelf, so no wait time to deliver.
They told me after I purchased that I'd have to wait till mid march probably to get my appointment to fill out papers on the Silencer shop kiosk.
Is this normal or did I get hosed ?!?!?

I never needed an appointment. Heck, I did the kiosk thing before I ever bought a can so when I finally pulled the trigger I'd already be set up. Wasn't a line or appointment book or any nonsense.

I'm new to the
Hosiery may be involved, but clarity could have been achieved at the time with the simplest, yet most difficult question; "Why?".
I the why was, there's over 120 some people in front of me that are in line to do the paperwork on the kiosk. Nobody was using it while I paid for my can.
The more l thought about it this week the more upset I got.
Probably stop in tomorrow and get a refund if possible.

If an appointment is needed to use the kiosk and the kiosk is available at the moment, I'd want to use the kiosk right then or would demand a refund.
Hosiery is usually found in the ladies section, not a gun shop. Store's actions like this have an immediate way of alienating me, often quite permanently..

Makes no sense to me. People using the kiosk is the very first thing I see people do (have never used it myself). Really weird.

Perhaps there may be some misunderstanding involved.

If you are meaning Silencershop, and a Silencershop kiosk:

You only use a kiosk once. To finalize your account & submit prints (prints via the kiosk). Everything else you do yourself.

Here is the generalized process:

A. You create a Silencershop account. From anywhere (home, work, at an in-n-out drive thru)- anywhere you have interwebs access.

B. When creating an account, you select an FFL which has a kiosk. Silencershop sends you a one time code for that kiosk. (I believe the code is good for a day or so, no worries if it "times out", you can request another one).

C. You go to the FFL with the kiosk, use your one time code & finalize your account.

D. You NEVER USE A KIOSK AGAIN.

E. You take your own passport photo & upload it yourself. New photo is required annually, from the time your first passport photo was uploaded. Which you also do yourself.

--If your FFL requires an appointment to use the kiosk, then make the appointment. Or select another FFL with a kiosk-

**At some point you need to create an ATF account, and link it with your silencershop account. IIRC you may need to do this before using the kiosk. However, I may be mistaken. ALL accounts require the same e-mail. ALL accounts require the same ID and current address info. DO NOT LOSE YOUR LOGIN INFO, PIN, OR PASSWORD. ATF account requires password reset pretty frequently, every 4 or 6 months or something.

Edit/adding: accounts require the same physical ID (drivers license etc). Not the computer/typed in/account name "ID". Silencershop named account you create, ATF named account ATF creates for you when you set up ATF & set your password & ATF PIN...

Thanks for the info and detail on how their kiosk works. This morning I did make a call and I have to give credit or credit is due. This is not silencer shops kiosk or their fault in any way shape or form. Turns out the gun shop I'm talking about has their own system. Their system apparently works at about half the speed of smell.
Looks like I'm going to just have to wait since a loooooong time. I've already purchased the mounts for my rifles to fit the can that's sitting at the shop. I would love to use another shop, but unfortunately the scythe stm is back ordered in most locations. So either way it's going to be a long wait for me.
Word to the wise if you happen to use a gun shop in Hazeldell don't buy a silencer from them.

Interesting.

Mayhaps look into setting up a Silencershop account anyways (they'll list out who has one of their kiosks).

Or a Capitol Armory account. They don't use a kiosk. You find a place that does electronic prints, & you do the prints that way. Once. Capitol Armory seems the best way to go, because the suppressors get shipped to your door. -IF- you can do the prints. Never used them tho.

-For your future purchases-

Oh & a plus to Silencershop, easy to do short barrels too..

Do you need to pay Silencershop $75 every time you use them?

Nope. As others mentioned, nor is there an FFL transfer fee or shipping fee.

However if you buy a suppressor NOT from Silencershop (person to person, directly from a manufacturer etc), you'll pay whoever for shipping & your FFL for the transfer. Our preferred shop currently charges $75 for these NFA transfers. The ATF stuff involved is then run thru Silencershop. Pretty convenient. Have done such on 3. I ordered them directly from the manufacturer. Smooth/easy.

The 2 I picked up today the shop ordered them in for us. 1 wasn't carried by Silencershop, the other was out of stock. Both available other places. Also smooth/easy. Cost roughly the same as if thru Silencershop, least ways on the out of stock one. So likely also similar price on the other. Both run thru Silencershop software/system, so updates on approval to ships, updates on "come in to certify" etc.
