They are definitely an acquired taste. They've been famous in SA for a long time. When Lady Gaga offered them a job opening for her, they took offense and wrote this song/video. It took off and pretty quickly they went world-wide. I think it was after that that they got offered parts in a move. I don't like most of their music but some of them are fun.

I don't know anything about the armored car business, but I'd assume there'd be some policy that you'd alert HQ and/or police if you were being robbed???
This being a different country of course who knows but, years ago one got hit here at a Wally. Some scum came up behind the guy who was bringing the cash to the truck and shot him in the back of the head. When LEO's got there the driver was on his cell and refused to acknowledge the multiple Police all around his truck. He just sat there on his cell. The Cops at first thought he was being held hostage in the truck. Turns out he was supposedly doing what he had been told to do if something happened. Call his home office and do what they told him. At the time I had to "guess" they were told this so someone dressed like a Cop could not walk up and ask them to open the door ?? Since he was using his cell phone I also had to guess maybe they for some reason do not have a damn radio?? It was very strange.

From other articles I read on the guy he wound up in a gunfight last year and shot a couple of them.
52 years old and still tearing it up.

Quite the youtube rabbit hole to go down following those guys over there.
Almost seems like a national past time.

Reminds of a lady at church who drove ambulances in the 70s. Church picnics were white knuckles in the van. 100mph everywhere.

Jonny Twoguns next to him must have been the bosses nephew.

The "assistant driver," the way he was handling that rifle inside the vehicle, at first I thought he was gonna drill a round through the floor. Seemed like the wrong weapon for inside the cab. Something like an Uzi might be better. Or just about any handgun. It takes a pair of huevos to work that job in SA.

SA is a violent place. We met a couple who'd just moved from there to Perth, Western Australia. They were born in SA, but were glad to get away. I forget what city they had been from in SA. But their home there was walled all the way around. They both carried handguns in the home at all times. When they wanted to go out to eat at a restaurant, they hired an armed guard and a driver who would pick them up, wait while they had their meal, then escort them home again.

Mrs. Merkt and I have both been reading some stories that take place in Botswana, South Africa's supposedly more civilized neighbor to the north. I got on Google Earth to look at some of the areas the author mentioned. I noticed that all the homes had complete concrete or block walls surrounding the entire property. So as you drove down the street, you couldn't see much of any of the houses and none of the yards. Block after block of concrete walls.

Hard to say how remote that area is and whether they have radio repeaters or even cell coverage. I did see a few cars on what looked like a highway in the background but might have been a location specifically chosen by the bad guys because of the lack of comms. Just a thought....

With the one is the video yep, I mean the guy here who's partner was killed. While a LOT of Cops were standing around his vehicle he refused to even acknowledge them while on his phone. It had the Cops thinking he was being held hostage in the truck. They had called a SWAT team in by the time he acknowledged that he was fine. It had me wondering if they don't have a radio here which would seem very strange.

Armed and armored transport for cell phones.
Interesting.
When l watched the video, my first two thoughts were, "That's awfully tight quarters for an armored car". And, "Manual transmission?".

The 'Yota LC checks-off both of those boxes... l want one (preferably without bullet-holes)

Some background on who this guy is and why he has his poop together under fire.
