What was left out;
Forward Assist lever was added because the rifle would some times jam and not allow the cartridge to fully enter the chamber.
The first Vet Nam issue M-16 where not accurate, barrel would also burn out fast, bad barrel design. All the barrels had to be replaced. After a lot of GI's died because the couldn't hit who they where shooting at.
Keep it super clean or it will jam.
