I recently ordered some stuff, less than $75, that came from Canada. It arrived no problem. Then, a week or two later I started receiving texts and emails from Fedex that I owed $35 in tariffs! At first, I thought it was a scam. Why am I getting it AFTER delivery? What happened to the other countries paying them? However, now I've received a letter from FedEx with copies of the tariff bill from Homeland Security, so it's real. Anyone else get one of these? Do we have to pay them? What happens if we don't? Why aren't we notified and asked to pay before delivery? An almost 50% tariff is also just insane--it's something that won't ever shift production to the US, so it's just a new tax. It's also not just the money--I now have to write a check, fill out a form, stamp and mail it all back; another PITA. This whole process is freaking stupid.
