I am not, and that is a sad reminder of just how far our country has fallen.

Growing up, the Superbowl was a tradition that my family embraced. We weren't exactly a sports family, but any excuse to get together, drink beer, eat crappy food, and watch football was welcome in the dead of the Idaho winter.

When I moved out of the house and got my own family, every Superbowl was either spent at a party, or hosting a party.

Then the Left took over the NFL and ruined everything. Nobody I know even bothers to have Superbowl parties anymore. The commercials are lame, the messaging is all woke, the gameplay is just not as good as it used to be. The half-time shows are people that I've never heard of and just don't appeal to me.

The last Superbowl party I went to was in 2015. I may have watched it last year with my girlfriend, but it is such a joke now compared to the good ol' days that it's hard to remember them.

So, who is watching and who isn't?

Never watched it and never cared. I don't even know who is playing today. (Other than boxing, no televised sport has ever been of interest, but to each their own. :))

I'd rather punch myself in the balls and do something productive for the other 3hrs 29.9 minutes. I'll probably go to the gym and hit the reloading bench when I get back.

I'm not watching it. But that's not because "the libs ruined it." I'm not watching it because I actively hate Tom Brady so I can't root for the 'Bucks. And I don't care about the Chiefs like at all.

Now next year, when The Seahawks are back in it, where they belong. I'll be 100% on board.

Also, My big sporting event of the year is Wrestlemania.

Not watching here ....just moderating all the "unnecessary roughness" that goes on sometimes in the forum is enough football for me... :D

Today I am mostly planning out my fur trade display for school and reading...:D

But...
For those that do enjoy watching the game...I hope you enjoy it and have a fun day.

My wife and I have always caught the Super Bowl every year. We are absolutely not typical football fans, don't go to games nor watch regular games. I don't even like most organized sports, grew up skateboarding, dirtbiking and BMX-ing.
But, we really do enjoy Super Bowls. Being in Seattle, we are definitely fair-weather Seahawks fans and that's been nice since they went to the Super Bowl 3 times since we moved here.

However....our family is definitely turned off by it for the exact same reasons as most of y'all. Who TF wants to be pandered and condescended with socio-political BS when trying to unwind and enjoy some senseless sports fun?

We will be skipping it this year. I have not heard that it will contain social-justice messages this year, but even if it doesn't we are not ready to "come back" yet. Maybe we will in the future, maybe we won't ever.

The only thing I have heard for 2021 is that Toyota MAY show us the new Tundra. But I can watch that on YT. That is the only thing I am excited about.

I only watch soccer (real football), alpine skying and UFC. I tried to watch American football, but I could not enjoy it.

No offense to you personally.....

But I feel soccer has way more socio-political poison going on than football. In Seattle, most soccer fans are anarchists and fascists, er...anti-fascists whatever. I mean, the MLS has usually tolerated socialist and fascist flags being flown at the games.

Also, many poor countries that are heavy into soccer are generally some type of socialist regime, which makes me wonder if that's the actual appeal in the USA.

When I was a kid, my cousins lived in Bakersfield, CA and their parents were leftists. They gave their kids goofy names (Rafe and Tynon) and had them play soccer. In the 70's, having your kids play soccer was akin to having them recite Marx.

I remember one time my Hungarian friend and colleague was excitedly talking to me about the FIFA World Cup. I replied simply "You're talking to the wrong fellow, my friend. All I know about the World Cup is don't put money on an American team." A few years later, our women's team, so I am told, won. So even that information is suspect. :s0112:

The girlfriends family is putting it on for the commercials and an excuse to eat food. I might wander by which means her dad and I will probably end up playing with ammo instead. Since he has his FFL he always has something cool.

I'm taking a knee on football.

It's on ya say? Hmm, seen almost all of them, politics interjected that I don't agree with and no family ? Nope and Nope. it's time I left the TV off for this one. I didn't know it was on, choice was go to the range and let the pup free range so as to train her for or go to the closer off leash dog park (PIR). Went to PIR and the dog ducked under the 7' fence with a "no trespassing" sign hot on the heels of a rabbit, whereupon she saw more rabbits that she'd ever seen. Didn't come back for an hour and a half. I could here her in there braying at them first here, then there. She must have finally killed one as she finally came back. Acted all embarrassed.
