Not the first shooter on the FBI's radar that ended up carrying out their plans.
Indeed in no way the first time the evil nutter was on the authorities radar before the incident. And I'd add there has been more than one that were prohibited persons, but were not in the NICS system due to dotgov incompetence. But the narrative is never on that; it is on how law-abiding citizens should have a fundamental civil right violated.

Kids mental health was obviously bubblegumed a year ago when he said he was going to shoot up the school. Inadequate intervention and monitoring of him since. Seems like these kids that do school shootings there are lots of mental health warning signs and they are ignored. Even to the point of drawing the killings they want to do in school and teachers and counselors know about it. Why not pay attention to the mental health of those who are obviously at risk rather than focus on inanimate objects as the cause?
I don't disagree. The warning signs were there. Same can be said of a lot of these shooters. A lot of it comes down to parenting, plain and simple.

My older kiddo is emotional, but peaceful. My 5 year old is tough and thinks nothing of taking me on and trying to kick my butt if I hurt his feelings. I don't expect either to pick up a gun in anger, but because of the world we live in and the liabilities that will undoubtedly increase I am now triple locking everything. I keep firearms individually trigger locked inside my safes. I have magazines and ammo locked up separately. I will be damned if I give my kids unsupervised access to firearms, and if they do get them it will take serious effort on their part.

But parenting... I see a lot of kids out there that are just feral, unsupervised, consuming way too much media and screen time, and no parent in sight. I don't have to snoop to find out what's going on in their worlds, I just have to ask and listen to what they tell me. I'm familiar with too many adults that are childish in their maturity level, mentally unwell, or self-absorbed to the level of being unfit to parent.

Wish I had an answer. Until then I preach situational awareness to my children and drill it into them.

We have some of those parents in our area. I don't let my kid go to their house etc. I told my kid look at how the parents have no discipline at all and the kids are a mess. No emotional control at all and going from one end of the spectrum to another. Kid is not happy so they change schools etc. with no effect. I told my kid mark my words that kid will be in jail or on drugs by 20 yo. These kid with what I consider to be bad parents are not evil or bad kids but they are a total mess mostly due to parents from what I have seen.

My wife had a friend in Hawaii that was an emotional mess. Her husband was an emotional mess, Her kids were an emotional mess, and the older one tried to commit suicide on more than one occasion. It's difficult not to be a product of your environment.

I'm frankly surprised there aren't more of these incidents happening.

I just go to the math. 333,000,000 people in the US.

Social Media rampant. Wars on the field and wars on the horizon. No common positive 'cultural' force driving the nation. Cultural relativism is the rule now. Identity politics. Woke policies and indoctrination. Race and ethnicity present in every narrative to explain the root cause. A completely failed electoral system that presents two bad choices. These kids look at college and their future and realize how the game is set against them. Either conform to plasticity and Orwellian thought or be slowly marginalized. Especially if you're in a non-protected class...i.e..white, heterosexual and male.

Peer pressure and bullying magnified to the nth degree due to social media and cancel culture.

They have no outlet. Degrading free porn within a clicks reach. Fake friends and brain numbing online computer games.

What is there to look forward to? Where is their optimism?

It just takes one who is already on edge..amplified with psychotropic meds and an unloving houshold (and community), to decide enough is enough.

While I don't understand the will to kill others, the will or thought to exit this world has, at times, been present. Multiply that type of thought by 100 in a teen.

Again, surprised it isn't happening more often.

This has nothing to do with guns. Without guns it would be knives. Without knives, rocks.

Our culture is sick.

And taking left turns at stop signs :D

antis never want to deal with the criminal behavior
Of course not.

And my guess is because it would be considered 'abusive', 'unfair' or apply ANY politically or socially 'incorrect' word or definition to it (similarly to how they deal with trans/LBGT types) and I believe this would largely in part render any psychological/mental health/criminal behavior help null and void.

Throw in the factor of being a minor and I'll bet dealing with potential 'criminal behavior' issues would be all but ineffective.

This is just MY opinion and anyone with some experience please jump in!

World population has gone from 4 billion in the 80's to 8 billion.

This would explain much of why humans are tired of humanity.

Admit it..you know I was correct in that. You would have done the same. And BTW, I didn't give a bubblegum that he flipped me off. I was genuinely curious about Oregon's stated law on the matter. So after pages and pages of that thread, the result is this: The other driver should have let me go first. Oregon law is blurry but technically states that he had the right of way..even though I was there 20 seconds before him. I've already admitted as such. Live and learn.

Theyv obit to get votes, by creating more classes of people dependant on government support or social programs. Criminals fit into this.

We are now 3 or 4 generations deep into parents depending on public schools to raise their kids and a general lack of traditional family values being taught in the home.

Well..yeah...

Remember the late 90's...how MSM and pop culture launched a war against 'family values'. I forget the tv sitcom that was at the center of it..but you probably remember.

Edit..Murphy Brown. https://daily.jstor.org/murphy-brown-motherhood-and-family-values/

Imo tv trains kids and adults for what is "normal". Ie how you should dress, act, what's your role in society, identity to some extent, etc. I haven't watched tv since 1996 except football and movies. My kiddo the same. I suppose social media does that now but never really thought about it that much.

Well..MOST kids and adults do watch TV..all the time...constantly. And for Gens Z, Millennials,,and X to some extent, social media on the net is watched just as often. Youtube is the new 'three networks' we had in the 70's.

That's their world.
