Great info. I wanted to try AR's powder, but couldn't get any info until now. It is hard to buy the pistol powders. Seems like they sell out very quickly.

Actually, it is hard to buy "in demand" powders. Powders for pistol, and popular rifle cartridges, I.e. .223 Rem, .308 Win, 30-06 also sell out very quickly. If you are in the market, check frequently, and if they have something you want to try, don't hesitate to. On the downside, you are getting 8 pounds of powder at a great price that may or may not perform as you hope.
A long time ago, I had heard about a new powder from Western Powders (Accurate and Ramshot) called Ramshot TAC. I had read about it online on a couple of gun forums and it sounded like a better version of H-335. I think it was Wideners that had it on sale for $79.99 for an 8 lb keg, with free shipping and hazmat if you ordered over $200 worth of powder. I rolled the dice, and ordered three of them (with my fingers crossed). It turned out great and I probably ordered at least 3 or 4 more over the years.
But that was a name brand powder with plenty of load data published, Not quite the same as the American Reloading surplus or pulled powder. You pays your money and takes your chances.

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking at American Reloading. They have decent prices on primers too. Smart money would be to buy gift cards and use them later.

Use care & caution dealing with them. They have gone downhill quite a bit since they started.

Perhaps because they became so popular?

Dunno.

However the primers available one day then sold out, then available a few days later gives me marked pause with them now. Market manipulation-ish.

Not saying don't buy from them, just do so with care.

Regarding buying gift cards to use "later"….

I've seen companies offer attractive gift card sales (get a nice discount - like buy $60 or $70 in gift cards, get $100 worth of cards) or rebate deals to pull in cash flow when a company is struggling. Sometimes that go out of business and the gift cards or rebate is worthless.

Not saying that is happening with this business, but given all the "sales" and struggles filling orders, I would consider this as a potential risk before buying a bunch of gift cards for future use.

I have a firearms safe purchased from a former local retailer in my area (GI Joes) that was a good deal, made even better by a "rebate" offered that the company never fulfilled because the went dark shortly after my purchase.

Would reloaders here be more likely to try American Reloading's MP powders if they sold them by the pound?

Maybe by 4lbs jugs. 1lb cans seem like they would be havoc to manage as inventory for them, given that its pulled powder and variable. It seems likely that you'd discover you like the results of a 1lb can only to never find that exact powder again.
