I thought I'd pass along a fun way to shoot that I've run across.
Be certain that the rangemaster is cool with it though, so you don't get in hot water.

I came across a big bucket of golfballs after doing some work around a house by the golf course. We made a game where the one that can shoot the ball closest to a designated spot, doesn't have to go out and pick up the balls after the game is over.

Surprisingly, the golf balls held up really well to cci minimags. and .357 Mag/ .38spcl.

I still had to pick up all of the balls.

Your milage may vary.

Never made a game out of it that way but that is how I taught my boys to shoot many years ago because if you can hit a golf ball a game animal or large target is easy. They can really fly when you hit them with a 22 rifle.

I will have to try it thanks for the idea.

ive always wanted to invent a golf course where you played against skeet shooters aiming for your ball.

This thread reminds me of this post from a buddy on another board:
One day at the range a bunch of us got bored with the steel and started plinking at golf balls on the seventy-yard berm with our 1911's. We'd hit one every once in a while, but we were mostly digging divots.

A guy who can be a little condescending sometimes walked up and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

"Shooting golf balls."

"With pistols? Yeah, right."

Summoning my best bravado, I said, "OK, I'll show you." I mean, there's really no disgrace in missing a golf ball at seventy yards, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

I singled out a ball, drew a bead, and fired. Wonder of wonders, that golf ball took off like a Jordan Speith wedge shot. The guy's jaw dropped.

"OK, guys," I said, "I'm late already...gotta go. See ya".

Sometimes I know when to quit.

I've shot a lot of golf balls with a muzzle loader in competitions in the past. They were usually hangin on about a 3ft string so any breeze made it even more fun. Best know your hang time!

Yep you betcha I've shot at golf balls. They hold up well, until you hit one just right, and it goes to the next county.

This caused me to change up shooting at golf balls. Instead of an actual golf ball, we shoot at "Wiffle" golf balls. Or even wiffle baseballs. Tie a cord to the ball, and the other end a stick, throw it on the berm, and blaze away. Tremendous action from the ball, and it can cause opportunities to shoot at a target that is ever-moving, and you never have to chase the ball.

When my boys were kids, I used to hit golf ball wiffle balls with my wedge in the backyard, while the boys would take turns tracking them with their BB guns and try to hit them out of the air. We called it wiffle skeet.
While hits weren't many, it was sure fun trying and when they connected, they were in heaven. I like to think it helped make them the marksmen they are today :D

Love this.....
My kids grew up hitting little green apples, their friends also.........
Recently found another wiffle ball in the barn left over from a batting practice eighteen years ago the best I recall. Must of been a rainy day : )
