What seems intuitively obvious to us isn't obvious or even "thought about" by others. Lots of people heard "gun safety" and "background checks" coupled with highly repeated news about shootings and they voted yes. They did not think about whether with an abundance of guns and magazines on the street criminals would be affected by 114. It didn't come to mind.

I would guess that for most who voted for this measure, criminality did not enter the equation. It's about "getting rid of guns," not so much about who's in possession of them.

Whatever definition we may give of the term 'public opinion', only a very small part of it originates from personal experience or individual insight. It was voted in by the same people who believed Feinsteins statement,

"If everybody turns in their guns, then the criminals will too; it's human nature."

(Yes, she really said that . . . unbelievable right?)
