I got a smoking deal on starline 1x 9mm brass. I prefer to de prime the brass before I wet tumble it. But doing a couple thousand doesn't sound as fun as it did when I bought it but for 7 cents a piece I can deal. What's the best way to knock it out? Only have a Dillon 550 and single stage Rcbs,

I use one of tbese.
You can sit on the cpuch, out at the picnic table or anywhere and knock the primers out.

Gotta say I've never messed with depriming before cleaning on most of my pistol brass.

Good luck with your endeavor though!

I deprime while watching stuff. I use a lee hand press to do it. Only is is I have an older one so it only fits a few dozen primers before you have to dump it out. Not really a problem, but something you have to pay a small amount of attention too.

I will deprime in huge batches, tubs at a time over a few sessions. Then I clean and put it into storage. I can pull clean brass when I want to reload using the multi-stage press.

Best way to do it IMO. Brass is dry and ready to use when you want it.

I don't bother depriming 9mm before wet tumbling unless I'm making precision ammunition. For 4-5k pieces of brass, just wet tumble, size/deprime and get on with it.

I use a Lee APP for depriming dirty brass, keeps the Dillon clean(er). I bought an adapter that lets me use my case feeder with the APP, it goes pretty fast once you get it setup.

Could you please elaborate on what case feeder and adapter you are using? I've been considering getting mine set up like this as well.

Just run them through your 550, there is not reason you can't just de-prime with it. It would be faster than the single stage since you will only have to handle the brass once to load it in the press.

I am with others, I cannot think of a good reason to de-prime pistol brass before tumbling (wet or dry). I have done thousand of pistol rounds by shoot, tumble, run through progressive press, repeat.

The kit I got off of the bay looks like this. I added a dowel and put my Dillon case feeder on it. If you had a 3D printer you could probably make your own, these are definitely printed. But it works great, and I don't have to the use the Lee case collator thing. If you already have a case feeder, it's pretty cheap upgrade - I think it was $45.

Thank you, I don't have a case feeder yet but looking to put a system together that works with what I currently have without buying multiple times. Looks like a good system for sure!

Make believe it makes a difference and power on through, you'll thank me later.
