""We can't live in a country where people are afraid to go into the woods," the prime minister told reporters afterwards."

Dumbest thing Ive read all day. Lets go kill hundreds of bears cause 1 person went in the woods and got mauled so people can feel safe in bear habitat. Im guessing they dont allow hunting bears there....
1. WE CAN'T LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO GO INTO THE STREETS!
2. THE BEARS WERE HERE FIRST AND THEY VOTE!

We can't live in a country the size of Yakima county but with 1300 times more bears! :s0112: Every man, woman, and child has to carry a Stribog 10mm! (Made in Slovakia by the way :s0112: ).

they should take all of the bears out along with any wolves if they have any then in time they will migrate back there.
They the bears will find state owned radio collars, put them on so they can see where they are at all times and deny the bears are there just like the wolves that migrated here to washington state from land far, far away.

"You can't let nature run wild."

Slovakia is 19,000 square miles. According to the Net, half of that space is suitable bear habitat.

In Alaska, excluding certain costal hot spots, the average brown/grizzly bear density is one bear every 20 square miles.

On the 'flip side' maybe somebody, somewhere needs/wants 350 bear skins - and is willing to pay 'someone' or 'something' in Slovakia a good price for them....
Pretty sure the Chinese market will buy all the cored anuses to use as magical cock rings for top dollar.
so there's that

I think you confused that for gal bladders.....
One of the great things about these forums!
Just when you think the ED debate is a choice between Cialis and Viagra, you can visit a thread about wildlife management and discover that dead animal parts might broaden your horizons.
Mildly disconcerting, but informative just the same.😏

Also it would be interesting to see stats that show the increase in human population and if that of the bears numbers followed this.

I am certainly not a wild life biologist but it seems to me while reducing the population might temporarily reduce attacks as the population of bears (and people) increases the bears only become increasingly less afraid of humans, will continue to move closer in and attacks will only increase exponentially.
This is an interesting topic. It may be difficult to extrapolate from the North American perspective to the European experience. Actually, the population of Slovakia has been relatively stable since the turn of the century. In fact, the growth rate has been declining and recently turned negative.

As a rural property owner, I have had several accidental encounters with N. American black bears, and do not particularly fear them, as they are generally just as willing as I am to head the other direction, but the European brown bear is the same species as the grizzly, which is a different animal altogether.
