.32 the caliber time has passed by?

  • No way, José! Very much viable, I particularly like [fill in the blank] ...

  • Might be a little over dramatic, but yah, it has fallen by the wayside. Still a workable option.

  • Pretty much. The thirty-two is a niché item, at best.

  • Of course. De facto dead. Why are we having this conversation?

Of all the guns I have owned, sold, traded or borrowed over the years that is the one that I have always wanted to get my hands but have never been at the right place at the right time to make it happen!
Got it right here from a member.
Was an old stale listing so I called and made an offer, piece was twenty minutes from me.

Those GP 100s are pretty rare. They only made one run I believe so a national auction listing is gonna be your quickest route. They are nice but for the price, I'd opt for a S&W Model 16 in either 4 or 6" in the H&R. With a 9.5" Single 6 producing near 327 velocities.

Nice score aasbra. You'll enjoy that. If you reload, a 140 bullet should fit. I casted a bunch about 12 brinnel with a gas check HP at 135 gr.

Check reloader magazine for 327 load data.

I seem to recall a GP100 or Blackhawk in 32 at the BG show the last month or two. I was looking for a small Single-Six or SP101 so didn't pay much attention to this large pistol.

Mines a Blackhawk Bisley but is the size of a single six. Early on Ruger made the Super single Six Magnum in 32 H&R. A friend had one that was a Boy Scout commemorative model. Somewhere along the line Ruger made the Shopkeeper in 32 H&R with a birdshead grip. I have a customer that has two of them for her Cowboy Action Kit.

I took a Buckeye and converted it to a Bisley and relieved the .311 throats to .313 on both cylinders. I still have a new front sight to install and grips to make.

It seems Houge has taken a page out of Altamonts book and making thinner Bisley grips. Ordered two sets and they were like 3/8" thinner overall then their older grips.

The front sight face on the new sight is 10°off vertical and shows up better for me with my aging eyes. I've got one installed on a Bisley single6 in 22LR and I like it a lot.

Road To Perdition, Savage 1907 in .32 acp.

If someone wants to shoot it then it's not dead to them. Not sure why gun articles like to pronounce that X caliber is "dead". Nothing else to report on at the time I guess. If they still produce ammo and someone still shoots it it's not dead imo. I don't have any guns in .32 but someday I might get an old Swiss revolver which apparently shoots just fine with 32 long.

When I see a Walther PP it reminds me of some foreign military officer.
You know, with a two-story oversize hat and a Sam Brown belt, with a tiny pistol in a full-flap holster.
They wear it as a badge, not to use. :)

I've liked .32 revolvers for years, but in reading these posts, it surprises me to see how many others share the interest.

Walther is going to release a PP in .32 w/ the extended beavertail (infinitely more comfortable to shoot).

Assuming Measure 114 isn't implemented by the release date I plan to by this AND a case of .32 ACP

I think it's funny how now what is new is just rediscovered something old that someone claimed to dead and buried. Now it's "new, exciting and different!" ..... as seen on TV.... but wait there's more.... act now limited time offer.

There will be more 32 caliber handguns coming out at 2025 SHOT...so the wave will continue.

Have been invited to the S&W pre show dinner the Sunday before SHOT opens, so will be able to view all the new stuff and shoot them on Monday.
