  • Might be a little over dramatic, but yah, it has fallen by the wayside. Still a workable option.

  • Pretty much. The thirty-two is a niché item, at best.

CountryGent:

The way I see it, I can shoot a malefactor three times before he can blink with any of my .32 auto pistols, placing the bullets where I wish. European loads will "take the wind out of his sails" before he even knows what happened. With my Walther PP its even easier.

I doubt most people can accomplish that with a larger caliber.

(I've found it will, generally, though not always, shoot .32 ACP as well. Though shooting those was mainly for the giggles.)
Seems it is the MagTech that doesn't always go bang. Whilst shooting a Walther this morning, on a bit of a lark, I tried some of the PMC Bronze I was shooting in the SP101. Ran like a top.

I have carried a 32 for years I used to mange a pawn shop 30 years and a colt 1903 32acp was almost always in my pocket Now its a smith 432uc 32mag I have owned many 32s auto and revolver love them all

I hear you @rrd101. I find myself carrying S&W 632 UC a lot these days.

as much sense as they make I just can't love a hammerless revolver.
I have EDC'ed Hammerless revolvers for over 30 years. Much prefer them for pocket carry. Nothing to snag. At near contact range out to ten yards or so they are point-shoot. Hold in close to body to enhance weapon retention. No sights needed. Read Applegate book Bullseyes Don't Shoot Back. I was taught old school.

I agree with both you and @bionic knees. I've carried a S&W 642 Airweight for many years and have been satisfied with its performance.

But I don't love it.

I hear you guys. That one piece is the only DAO revolver or, well, anything, in the battery. I like being able to thumb cock and shoot with a crisp, single-action pull. However, for that one particular application, light weight and snag-free shape, was more important. To each their own.
