Got this gun in a trade. Here is what I know. Guy I got it froms grandfather brought it back from WWII and had it bored to .30-.06. Guessing Japanese 6.5 originally? $100.00. Okay guess it was a 7.7 chambered a .30-.06 round and ejected it. Did not fire has what looks like a repaired stock. $100 could sell parts on gunbroker or have stock checked out. Added a pic of the fixed crack.

Probably a 7.7 Jap Model 99. It was common to run a 30-06 chambering reamer in them. The chamber would be slightly oversize at the rim end, so your brass would balloon slightly. Not unsafe, but best to just neck crimp your reloads and keep that brass with that rifle.
 
Friend of mine looked it over guess original 7.7 put .30-.06 shell in and ejected it. looks like it might have had a crack fixed in front of the grip. Will let it all go for $100 cash.
