I've got a 2012 F-350 with 3" Nerf Bars on them, I do not know when they were installed.
I am looking to replace the plastic pads because they are deteriorating and curling on the ends. Not the best of pics but you can get an idea that they look like they curled up like the wicked witch…
As always, any help is much appreciated.

Huh. I'm still learning. I didn't know these "step bars" were called "nerf bars" now. When I was a kid in the 1950's, nerf bars went on the front and maybe back of hot rod roadster type vehicles. Little ovals or "S" shapes.

Maybe use a heat gun and gently heat them up until they are pliable, then use some large worm-drive hose-clamps to hold them down at each end until they cool down and hold shape again on their own.

Nerf bars are typically a 3″ round tube that runs the length of the cab or from wheel to wheel.

It's your trucks way of regretting the warmer temps….

Glad your still on the forum!

Ok ok ok, in a Joe Pesci voice… then why do the manufacturers themselves call then "nerf bars"? :s0092: :s0108:
Huh, never heard that before, we used to call the "roll bars", popular in the truck beds of the 70s and 80s, nerf bars. Probably wrong too.

I've only owned a truck since 2007, never saw a manufacturer or enthusiast call step bars "nerf". Could be a generational thing? At my work, the really old school guys refer to a sledgehammer as a "single jack". They're pretty old dudes, but I'm old too, I still call a couch "Davenport"

A single jack is a short handled hammer with a 2 - 4 lbs head on it and is used with one hand. (I frequently use a 2-lbs single jack at work)

A sledge hammer is a long handled hammer with a 4 - 12 lbs head on it and is used (typically) with both hands swinging it overhead and/or over one's shoulder.

A couch is a sofa.... Davenport is/was the name of a sofa manufacturing company and the name became a generic reference for a sofa (my maternal grandma used the term frequently)... much like a "Crescent Wrench" for all adjustable wrenches, and "Vice-Grip" for all adjustable locking pliers.

Also... it seems a few folks around here are confusing Nerf bars with Nerd bars.

A simple search will reveal the truth, they is called nerf bars.

FTR, I've owned trucks since 1978, I'm older…

Wanna hear something funny? Ask a true southerner and a yankee to say "nerf bar". :s0140: :s0140::s0140:
