Hey guys. Just wondering how everyone's Turkey season is going? I been out twice this year (Mt. Hood and Roseburgish area) and maybe heard 3 gobbles the whole time.

Talked to some friends and they said the same. Slow season for them too. How's everyone else's season going?

Well im not a turkey hunter but I see them everyday digging the crap out of my berries. I had a couple guys come out to hunt but they gave up and never came back. I could drive around and shoot them out the window but im sick of killing things. Plus I hate to give odfw anymore of my money. Might reach out to Greg at odfw and get some damage tags if the destruction continues

"Right where I'm supposed to be" never sounded more fitting 🙂.

Yeah something about calling a gobbler…….nothing like it in the world.

Well I was a goverment trapper for 2 decades and killed animals for a living. Now im running 3 farms and only hunt deer and elk and the occasional water rat. I have a good friend who has the world's slam of turkeys and he's always tried to get me to hunt them. Never had a intrest

Saw 8 hens over 3 days, heard 2 toms from afar. Stalked one that would answer me but as I suspected he was holding up on the other side of private land.

Nice. At least I know something is out there this season.
For public land toms you have to hit opening weekend, after a couple weeks of pressure the toms hole up in creek draws or private lands and gobble less and less. When they are silent try some soft hen purrs and a tom might come in totally silent but I mostly dont have much luck once they go silent.

I bought the Sportsman Pac but didn't even print up a turkey tag. I had some fun calling them in when my kids were little, but my youngest is now 27 and doesn't have much interest in turkeys. We had some pretty good access down in Douglas County when they were young. I've been cutting firewood in the national forest the past couple of weeks, as well as checking some of my favorite spots for bear sign. I was surprised to see some turkeys wandering around the roads on two occasions, but none of them had beards. I spend quite a bit of time in the area and usually go all year without seeing a turkey. Made me wonder if ODFW planted some up there. Finally saw some bear sign a few days ago. Going after them tomorrow.

Personally, I like the store-bought Butterball turkeys better. The only birds I chase anymore are grouse. Love me some grouse! I've seen a few of those this week, but it's a long way to September.

Hunted E OR with a bear tag and turkey tags. We were into turkeys everyday but never pulled the trigger. There was only one day that we didn't hear gobbles but that was the day USFS was cutting a fire break for a prescribed burn. This was the week of 4/21.
