Why should an FFL have to add the guns to their inventory. Why not just a BGC when they leave them (10.00 for all the guns, just to make sure the FFL can legally take them). And another BGC when they are retrieved. The FFL could bill them a nominal fee to store them. And, that is if any FFL would agree to that in the first place.

If they really want to get suicidal people to get their guns away from them during a crisis, and I;m sure they would have to be checked out by a doc before they could legally retrieve them, why make it so expensive and difficult, if they're really interested in protecting the public?

Seems to me they are pricing guys who would want to do this out. Nobody would be willing to do th\is if there wasn't a good chance of getting their guns back later, when they feel safe.

It just seems like so much book sheet to me.

I remember before we had NICS, the wait was 15 days from the time you bought the gun to when you were able to pick up the gun. Handguns anyway.

From what I understand, historically - Pre Gun Control Act, it was simply go buy one and pick it up immediately or you might have a wait if you mail ordered it.
I believe that should be the way it is.

If you go and commit a crime with a weapon, charge and sentence accordingly. It's the same thing with Lockpicks, or Bolt Cutters. They are perfectly legal to own, as long as you're not committing a crime with them. If you commit a crime with them, then it's an additional criminal charge.

This notion of "punish everyone because someone might do something wrong" is an unconstitutional overreach.

Major Breaking Oregon 2A ALERT!

Oregon Senate has PASSED Measure 243, because the Republicans SHOWED UP AND VOTED! They also attempted to pass a watered down version of the bill, when they should have DENIED QUORUM and BLOCKED IT. "Just a little" gun control is not acceptable.

This is not the democratic party of oregon from 25-30 years ago. Any 2nd amendment supporter and firearm owner that votes blue in this state is simply retarded.

My name is Joshua Yoder, I am an Oregon resident and a Second Amendment Advocate.
I have already sent this to my Representative (Yunker), and spoken with his office.
I wanted to make sure you all hear this too.

I'm reaching out regarding the pending unconstitutional gun legislation in the House. Unfortunately SB243 passed the senate today, only because the senators showed up for a vote, and proposed a watered down version of the bill. Any amount of gun control is too much, and the argument of "Public Safety" was struck down by the SCOTUS in NYRPA v. Bruen in 2022. The fact that the gun control lobby in the state legislature is still attempting to pass unconstitutional bills is deeply concerning. Yet here we are, and they know if these bills get passed, NOTHING will be able to be done until IF and WHEN the cases make it to SCOTUS, which would take YEARS.

There is a clear violation of the Oath of Office by those that are trying to pass these bills.

SB243 would turn countless, law abiding, Oregon residents into FELONS.
HB3075 seeks to implement Measure 114, despite the fact there is still litigation pending. The goal is to PREVENT gun ownership in Oregon by making it prohibitively challenging to exercise a constitutionally protected right.
HB3076 unduly burdens FFLs by making them jump through even more hoops, with a goal of driving them out of business.

Ultimately, they are seeking to criminalize a protected right, and discourage it for whoever is left. These will end up bringing Section 1983 claims in federal court against the State of Oregon, in addition to whatever lawsuits the US DOJ may bring. However, that could take YEARS in court before we remove the pending infringements.

I also want to point out that in SB243, they seek to ban "Rapid Fire Activators", which is arbitrary and ridiculous. Machine guns are already illegal unless Pre-1986 and registered, this is true both federally and at the state level. The "Glock Switches" mentioned are already illegal. The rest are semi-automatic enhancements. I know people that can shoot just as fast without them. So, they can shoot super fast but the rest of us can't? Or do they themselves become illegal? What about people that can bump fire with their belt loops? Will belt loops become illegal too?

A Force Reset Trigger (One of the activators listed in the bill), allowed for much faster follow up shots, while being able to maintain accuracy, and has been ruled by federal courts, to NOT be a machine gun.

I urge you to rally support and ensure that yourself and your fellow Republicans in the House do NOT show up for a vote on SB243, HB3075, or HB3076.
Do NOT let these bills pass! If you show up for a vote, the supermajority wins, period.

I know there is concern about "Unexcused" absences and not being able to hold office again. Well, demand that your absences are excused! If you don't stand up for Oregon, there's a very high probability that you'll be replaced in the next Primary election!

Oregon is watching!
