Do you know how to access the sear spring? If so, apply pressure on the middle and left legs. And re-test.

If you don't, take it to someone who does know...or i can do it for you....no charge.

Buy a base model Springfield GI. You will learn plenty just doing the "easy" stuff like fitting a new thumb safety, a beavertail, trigger, etc.. Even Kimber, Wilson and the other high-end makers do not always get it 100% right the first time out, so it's better to start with something you know works than to be wondering why it is your new hand-built pistol won't cycle correctly.

Plus, when you do decide to build one from parts, you will have a known-good reference to compare to and figure out why it doesn't work!
