Listing an 1877 transitional trapdoor carbine. Rifle is in excellent shape with a 9/10 bore. Stock is sound with no cracks or damage. The buttstock compartment is complete with an orginal 3 peice cleaning rod and broken shell extractor. The carbine features a seldomly seen type 2 rear sight.

This appears out of serial sequence of other 1877 carbine examples I can find. Is there a "C" on the rear sight?

Yes there is a C for carbine rear sight. The muzzle diameter is .730, the buttstock trap has the correct hole arrangement for the 3 peice cleaning rod as well the proper forearm lacking a plugged clearing rod hole. By all means, the carbine passes the "sniff" test and is avaliable for inspection.

The sn falls in between the last recorded for the year and the first of the next. Why is this? Only Al Fresca would know.
